I spent a few hours today putting together my TROY S.A.S.S. build. I replaced the spring with a Wilson and put in a SADLAK piston and op spring rod. Notice the difference in lenght of the Wilson spring.

I also shimmed the piston assembly while still waiting for the Dlask adjustable.

Here is the build to date while still waiting for my Leopold MKIV .5-14x50 L/TR M1 with TMR reticle

I will put the triggeer group in tomorrow. I will shoot some groups on the weekend, if I have time and get the scope. So far the rifle liked the Federal 150 Gr blue box stuff. Open sight groups at 50M had two groups of two touching each other.

Regards,
Henry;)

Looks good ! But did i see the shim under the gas cylinder lock ?
If i am not mistaken it needs to go on the barrel befor the gas cylinder .;)

OOPS !!! Thanks for pointing it out. I will correct it this week! I also had issues with seating the action into the chassis. The takedown bolt would not align! BTW, I am missing the side screw into the frame. Is it metric or will a no-metric fit? The TROY instructions are not that clear as I worked on the project for over 4 hours!

BTW, when I took the rifle apart, everythig was very loose. I did not have to use any tool to unscrew anything. The rear sight was a pain as well as the flash sight! I finaly had to use the dremel to remove it. The castle nut was free but the two welds held! F..ing Chinese! Why weld it? One cannot do any maintenance if it is welded!

Regards,
Henry;)

And you'll need it again if you swap out for USGI connector pin ;)

where did you get the sadlak spring guide from?...Brownell's?

Try Fabsports ;) If in stock, it will most likely be in your hands before you can sneeze :p
Purchased the spring guide & piston from them + other stuff.

Don't mind plugging a good Cdn supplier (ht tp://www.fabsports.ca/)

Put the business their way, we need all the good Cdn sources we can get.

I got my NEA spring guide from Fabsports...it's a perfect fit and shipping was fast, with no cross-border BS.

Unfortunately, they appear to have no M14 parts in stock right now...

Here it is nearly complete. I got the wrong threade adjustable gas block even if it was billed corectly. I am sending it back for exchange.I am going to the range Saturday to see what it does with the Federal 150Gr. The scope is a Leupold 4 4.5x14x50 with the TRM reticle.

Henry;)

I just got an email from a US friend. He told me to move the bipod forward and the sling mount to the side. Yup, he is of course right! I now need a good flash hidder/muzzle break without rethreading the barrel! How about a Canadian supplier for a sling?

Any ideas?

Regards,
Henry;)

One Shot Tactical has the VCAS slings, which from my understanding are one of the best slings you can get.

Also, wjat are yu going to use for a muzzle device? FH or Brake?
