Hi Everyone,
The thread title says it all. I am new to IPSC (but have hg experience) and have my BB course coming up in mid-January. By reading other posts on here, I've pulled together some kit so far: a stiff 1.75" inner and outer cobra belt, and Blade Tec DOH holster. My thought is to "buy once, cry once" and buy quality gear, but not break the bank. I would like to add quality mag pouches to my setup, and it appears that adjustable singles are the way to go. Are "Ghost 360's" the best value currently? I see that they go for around $30 each. I'm open to any other suggestions as well. Thanks!

I use blade tech's single competition pouches, they're great and Dave's surplus usually have them, I believe somewhere around $20 each. They're not as adjustable as some of the other (bigger price tag) offerings but for me they work fine. If you're.. without wanting to go down the insulting route, a little on the large side, they might not be as quick and easy to get to as others due to them being a little tighter to your body.
As for the others I have no experience using them.

3 weeks? They recommend that you take the course with something you have been using for a while. That being said, the blade tech are likely very easy to get using right away maybe. Also, where does one find these ghost 360 pouches.

Josko at Double Tap usually has them

Thank you sir, found them. Sent him an email. I am unsure on a few things with them. Perhaps someone who has some can chime in.

1) How does the belt attachment attach to the pouch?
2) Will it remain with the finger indexing slot at the front for either hand, as ambidextrous?
3) How wide of a belt will the belt attachment work on?
4) How thick of a belt will the belt attachment work on?

I tried to find the info myself but neither his site nor the ghost site have this info.

I wanted to get the Versa pouches (CR) but I also want the option to use them on a belt wider than 1.5" wide.

People anywhere from 100lbs to 300lbs use 1.5" CR (and other) belts and they work just fine. Why wider belt?

CR Speed Versa pouches are very versatile, they can be used by LH shooter, come with inserts to accomodate single stack 1911 mags and up. Tension adjustable. Have a cutout infront for index finger. They are plastic and thus are easy to clean, and scratches are pretty much invisible if you beat them up.
That's what I got for last 4+ years and don't see myself replacing them in my lifetime so far.

The Ghost 360 is fully ambi and attaches to any size belt using an adjustable clamping system - no slots. My production rig is a CR belt, Bladetec DOH and 5 Ghost 360's.

No insult taken :) I'm currently a 36" waist with a bit of a spare tire hanging over, but daily visits to the treadmill will hopefully take care of that. I think the extra accessibility that an angle-adjustable pouch offers will be helpful in my reload speed, until my muffin top is gone :roll eyes:

Just a general observation, in that I'm in Bantario: recommending that I take the course with equipment that I've been using for a while is a total catch-22. All the local clubs require that shooters have their BB before allowing holstering; How can I get experience using equipment prior to taking the BB course, when ranges require me to have my BB before using that equipment? :HR: (not flaming anyone, this is just an observation).

I plan on buying the Ghost 360's from forum sponsor Double Tap.

Ghost 360s - wow!

Well snap, that was quick! My Ghost 360's arrived today from Josko at Double Tap.

First impressions: these are one solid piece of kit. Each Ghost 360 mag pouch is actually made up of three pieces: The belt-clip portion, and both the dorsal and the lateral doublestack mag holders. The dorsal holds the mag with the bullets facing away from you outwards, while the lateral holds the mag in the traditional bullets facing forward orientation. Both mag holders have finger indexing slots front, side and back, making these mag pouches completely ambidextrous. Mags are held in place securely with a leaf spring. I went with the traditional "bullets forward" orientation.

Construction is solid, thanks in part to heavy gauge ABS plastic. There is absolutely no comparison the likes of Serpa mag pouches. The belt clip can be adjusted to belts over 2" wide, plus the clips offer a quick disconnect feature that let you remove/attach/adjust the mag pouches without having to take off your belt first. This is a big bonus if you wear your mag pouches towards the front, and find yourself needing to shoot prone - you can easily get the offending mag holders off and out of the way before the course of fire. They clip securely to my belt which is about 1/3rd of an inch thick. Mags can be angled a good number of ways - I'm amazed how smoothly and quickly I can access my mags.

So much for the initial impressions. I'm looking forward to running through the 500 rounds or so needed for the Black Badge course in a couple of weeks. Hopefully these Ghost 360s will hold their own. :D They are marked as made in Italy, so no cheap Chinese stuff here.
