Got a question for those that may know.

My dogs looooooove the bunny livers, hearts and kidneys. Is there any reason they couldn't/shouldn't eat the lungs as well?

Not as long as there is nothing wrong with the rest of the rabbit.... do you cook it up for them?.... That's what I do with my deer liver....

Ya, cook it up and grind it with some water into a slurry to add to their dry food. Like a rabbit innard shake. :D

They absolutely devour it.

What a fcuking waste of time that was, couldn't swing my head fast enough to stab 'em when they nibbled on my nose!!!! You owe me 2hrs of my life back, I take EMT.

I'm taking the carrot suit back tomorrow. :D

I discovered today how much cleaner and how much more fun it is to headshot the buggers with my TOZ .22 Makes the gutting WAAAAY easier and no broken bones or bloodshot meat like I was getting with my 410.

EMT for 2 hours of life sent.;)

22 headshots are the only way to go.

When I was just a young brat starting hunting in NS, everybody had a Cooey shotgun or thier Dad's Cooey shotgun for rabbit hunting. Of course with it's full choke barrel I had to ask the older more experienced hunters where should I aim. As I feared total destruction of game meat with an 1 1/8 ounce of birdshot at close range. The answer was and still is, aim an inch in front of thier nose. I still do this with just about any shotgun for bunnies at close distances.

Out for a walk in the woods this afternoon; had my 870 with a Dead Coyote Choke in and a pocket of High Brass #4's and some Buckshot in my shellholder in case I came across a Coyote.

You wouldn't believe how much brush you can go through and how far you can kill a Rabbit with that choke/ammo combo. No bloodshot meat either; just aim an inch or so above their heads.

Our limit is 5 Rabbits I could have shot 25!...:shotgun:

This is how we normally hunt them...beagles and shotgun

Beagles and shotgun. Before our tribe had beagles, it was tough hunting these critters. They have amazing senses and they tend to be wary of even the most careful stalk (at least here in SW Ontario).

Careful with bunny organ meat! That is, don't feed it to your dog raw. My hunting buddy just started feeding heart/liver/kidneys to his dog in the field. I bet him a beer his dog would get intestinal worms...he just lost this bet, took about 3 weeks. I think it's a fluke or flatworm that is parasitic in rabbit flesh and fulfills its' lifecycle in predators that eat rabbits.

Thank you demonstrating concern for our dogs. I've told many so-called knowledgeable persons about this fact on dog health. Some seem to believe thier canine friends have ironclad digestive systems. This is just not true! If you hunt your dog, do not feed it wild game raw & make sure they have thier regular shots as well. Make the sure the vet' knows you take your dogs hunting.
