The factory stock with minimal work can be made better than many aftermarket stocks.
Have done 9 of them for friends, and friends of friends.
Little bit on a old post but curious to see some pics of the stocks you have done. I am interested in doing mine this winter. Thx

The bare grey sharp stock is not cutting it anymore
'shaving' off all the plastic burrs and moulding lines with a razor blade, then painting them with a good quality (ideally a 2-part epoxy sort of paint, like dura-coat) goes a LONG way toward improving the overall impression of these stocks. Replace the pad with an aftermarket one, and glass bed the stock, and you're miles ahead. Some claim that the forend can be stiffened adequately by gluing (expoy) in a carbon fiber or fiberglass arrow shaft; I've tried it, and it does help a little, but the stock is still quite flexible compared to a proper composite stock.
In any case, I've found that - while the factory stock can be improved considerably - I usually end up replacing it altogether with a good laminate or composite stock anyway.

Never took any pic's, but fairly easy to explain, and not to bad to do.
Can pm me for details though on the general idea though, if you feel confident in doing it yourself afterward you can try it out.
