Type 97 Classification Issues - PART TWO

well, as s**tty as the situation may be...at least you got something. i hope those that can afford to fight it, will fight it.

not like the $200 assault rifle buybacks that have had THOUSANDS of volunteers in the states.

Sorry guys...I'm going to bump this thread for the "any news?" questions rather than the sticky...so with that...any news?

Thanks for the update even though it's bad news :( The RCMP could have prevented all of this mess by playing ball with the importers. By working with the importers, they could have rectified the issue and come up with a design that can't be easily converted to full auto. Instead, they decided to waste taxpayer dollars and put the importers and the law-abiding firearm owners through a ringer. So what if you tell a licenced importer the procedure? It's not as if they don't have gunsmiths on staff and access to manufacturers of full auto firearms. Had they acted with tact and reason, they could have allowed for the manufacturer and importer to make a few bucks and for the sport shooters to enjoy their hobby, while eliminating the perceived threat of an automatic firearm escaping from the safe and killing babies.

Why would they do any of that when their goal is the elimination of civilian firearms ownership and firearms related businesses in Canada? They are the ENEMY in this case. They have an agenda to make civilian gun ownership as difficult as possible and will certainly never lift a finger to do anything that might help gun owners or businesses in this country.

The same advice as given to the patriots in 1776..............your enemy wears red!

That may be true, but we can work on shaping them to become friends instead. The first step should come in bringing down the blue wall that makes many in the law enforcement community think they're above the riffraff (us). The problem is that we don't care enough to figure out when we're getting screwed or to do something about it. In countries where people do care, the cops stick to enforcement and real community policing. If we start caring enough, our police services will focus more on working with us.

I've visited countries where such a policing system works, but over there, the public cares enough to stay informed and raise a stink if something's wrong. Over there, nobody would tell you "it's your fault for getting beat up by cops for doing nothing because you went to a protest".
