My DA grizzly 8.5 is not feeding well. It fires and ejects fine. It is just not sending the shell back to the lifter well. This is happening with both high and low quality amo. I dissassembled and cleaned it and I am still having this ptoblem. Any fixes I would rather not send it back as the gun is very neat looking.

Check the yellow plastic follower, mine had a little burr of plastic that caught once in a while in the mag tube at some point not pushing proprely on the shell, after i sanded the burr down to nothing, perfect feeding, those littles QC details are so annoying... Cheers JP.

for what it would cost I'd get a new follower and the stronger Police mag spring. Cheap parts that are worth it.

Another more unusual issue is the shell latches. I had the exact same problem you are facing. I changed the follower and spring and it didn't fix it. I then took out my trigger group and noticed the left shell latch fell out.

The shell latches are staked into the receiver and are not meant to be removed or fall out. Remington 870 shell latches are supposed to be staked three times on the top and bottom. My Grizzly latches are only staked once on top and bottom.

I bought a new Reminton 870 left side shell latch and installed it. Functions flawlessly now. I did notice the latch tip looked different from my Grizzly one, so perhaps my old Grizzly one was damaged.

this is exactly what is happening, Chris suggested that I disassemble and bend the latch tips. When I took the gun apart the latch on the left side fell out I bent it but it just went from bad to worse. Instead of no shell coming out I was getting two. bent it back I would get none. Bent it again I would sometimes get none and other time two.

It's hard to find the correct original shape. If you're getting frustrated, you can buy a Remington 870 replacement left shell latch (I got mine for around $17). Double check that it fits in the Grizzly 8.5" receiver though, I don't know if it has different specs. Mine is a standard 12.5" Grizzly.

My grizzly is doing the same thing because of the improperly staked latch. I may have to send an email to canammo instead of taking it to my gunsmith.
