Hey guys, I have no idea why but I discovered that the small firing pin inside the bolt of my CZ 858 has broken. The tiny piece that strikes the primer has simply snapped off.
Anyways, I've found a replacement firing pin but it's designed for the VZ 58, not the CZ 858 which I have. My question is, are the firing pins interchangeable between the two variants?
I'm pretty sure they would be, but I thought I would ask.

Thanks to anyone who contributes

Is it the 3 slot or the 4 slot firing pin and you got a pic of the bolt from the rear end?
They mic out differently but only fractionaly. Although one is fine to use on 1 type of bolt while the other is fine on both.

4 Side works nicley on the CSA rifles

3 Side works nicely on the FSN rifles

Alright, thanks for the responses guys.
Satain, I have no idea what 'slot' my firing pin is. The 2 pics of firing pins look identical.
The pin I ordered only cost like 8 bucks, and I'll let you know if it works or not.
Will either if those pins be compatible with a CZ 858?

trust me there are 2 types and I am gathering that you have an 858 so trust me if you bugged Wolfgang @ Wolverine you will get the right 1.

why not take your bolt apart right now and see what the rest of the pin you have looks like then decide? i mean you have to take the bolt apart eventually anyways.

dweenz, I've already separated the pin from the bolt. It looks identical to pictures Satain posted. I can't see any difference between the two pictures.
Anyways, I'm guessing I got the right one. If not, it's 8 bucks down the drain... no big deal.
Thanks for the responses guys, definitely appreciate it.

Got an FSN square back bolt?

Why would the shape of the rear of the bolt make a difference? Is the FP channel different on those bolts? I think not.

Saying one type of FP works better in one gun over another is like saying the fully hooded front sight works best on one gun. They're just different parts from different eras of production.

Edit: The square back bolt is not unique to FSN rifles. They've been found in US parts kits and on Century-built VZ2008s. The parts kits and the parts to build the Century guns have all come from de-milled VZ 58's.

Simple cause I was wondering if there was a differance.
So I placed the 4 sided on in my normal bolt and did the rattle test. No problem then I placed it into the square block and did the rattle test. Gues what...
Thats right not all the time it rattled freely. So either I am stating something from personal experance of I am back on the :onCrack:
So just to make sure I thought well hell I'll try the 3 sided one on both and guess what...
When I rattled it no problems. Enter the mic and everything was similar except for the fact the old mis-surp bolt was a couple of thou different. So when some one asks a question on the internet I try to give my honest personal experance point of view but hell what do I know? Or would you still want me to do a documentry on it?

You can't make a generalization based on a sample of one. Had you explained rather than made a sweeping comment it would have made sense.

The Czech's used many different versions of parts to do the same job. I have not seen any evidence to suggest they changed critical dimensions at all.

The 4-finned FP is a later part, from what I've researched. No data can be found regarding where the square bolt fits in.
