This is my old school tactical Stevens 520. Barrel has been chopped to 19 inches. Made a side saddle for it. Thinking of doing the stocks in a black stain to make it look "synthetic". Good old gun, made of the finest quality. Does anyone else have one of these fine old shotguns?

Strip and oil that wood, it will look far better than stained especially with the bluing. Ive got a Stevens 67E 30 in. that I picked up from a local shop on consignment for $150. It looked to have maybe a handful of shells put thru it, otherwise next to mint condition. Theyre good old guns

I have a stevens 522. mine is a bit older with the hump back action. I have been wanting to cut the barrel to 24" and refinish the matal and wood.

Yah I have one, but it has ribbed wood on the pump.
It got wet too so there's some pitting.
Yours looks to be in great shape.

--- I have a C.I.L. 607, 12 Ga. 3 in., that is getting the 19 inch treatment, as soon as I get to it, no bluing left or very little, I kinda like it that way :) , its got that been there, done that, look to it !! -- then just oiling the walnut buttstock & fore end . --- another Truck Gun !!

OP, your #### will fall off if you bastardize that fantastic old shotgun with black paint. Leave it as it is or refinish with a quality oil finish if you can't leave it alone.

Okay guys, calm down. I didnt do it so dont worry. I stripped it down and refinished it. 2 different kinds of wood so I tried my best to match it up. The forend is walnut and I think the stock is a red type of wood as it was quite red stripped. I stained it to match the best I could. Got it close but still a little off. I couldnt get the forend off as the nut is seized on there. If I can get it off im going to try and match it but as of right now I cant. I will try to get some more pictures later. My camera is not working properly right now.

I think it was a smart move to refinish rather than paint it. Post some pics when you get your camera working.

Asphalt is right...with gray or blue metal, you won't belive how they come out on walnut stock oil (or stain),do that first...in case of dislike, you still can grab a flat black spray bomb after that...
