Well my son came over for Xmas and brought me all the goodies to upgrade my recently purchased CZ 858. I had removed the rear folding stock already and installed a NEA adapter with rail for an AR rear stock. Can't even remember if it was xmas day or boxing day, but off to the garage to transform my gun.
Off with the rear sight then on with a BC tactical rail scout mount, then top that off with a Burris Fastfire reflex sight. Next ditch the wood pistol grip and forestock and install Fab Defense grip and forstock. We watched the video on BC Tactical first about the spring and indent pin etc. Then the AR buffer tube and rear stock, got it tight enough with a strap wrench for a range day.
So everything went well and the gun looks so different, more modern, so off to the range today with about 80 rounds.
Started at 25 yards and was not on paper, so figured I must be high as the dot is like 2" over the front sight. So I put up some more paper above and below my target and aimed about 15" low and got on target. Started to adjust my sight, screws tight, then I see these locks screws on front of sight and figure they must lock the adjustment screws.
So after a bunch of adjustments and rounds, I am all over the bull at 25 yds. Try 100 yds and not on paper but just figure I will shoot more at 25 offhand to have some fun. As it is the first time for the gun just want to make sure it works well. Put up a man target and shoot 20-30 rounds, which seem a little low and right.
Anyways I have to get going and start packing up and notice the sight dosn't look right and is loose. On examination I see one of the top screws and lock washers just laying there on the sight being held on by something magnetic. Thank god for that or I am sure they would have fallen off. When I got home I found the other screw loose, as well as the Kastle nut on the buffer tube.
So all and all I guess it was not a bad day at the range and am planning my next trip. I had thought those screws on the sight held in the battery, but they actually hold on the sight, so a drop of lock tight before next trip.
The gun I am happy with, worked with out a glitch and the trigger is really good considering what kind of gun it is. I have shot my sons CZ and VZ before and liked the triggers, I mean not a match rifle but for what it is I like it. They are a light handy to handle rifle, and not that bad looking. I am not expecting moa, especially with the red dot but think it has some promise as a fun shooter. Sorry I have no pics but still havn't figured that out yet, you know the 60+ crowd. Well hope I have not bored you, but I had fun today even cleaning it. Hopefully have better results next time out. Cheers Guys and gals. Roscoe
