HI John and Marstar fans !

I will be buying a Chinese SKS in a week or so off you guys.

Which muzzle break and red dot recticle would be the best to add to this rifle?

The guys off Milsurp kicked me out for posting in the wrong section(rightly so)

Please help if you can.

Price isnt an issue, but hopefully the red dot will be under $125

thanks

:nest: Laugh2 :ang That's not a big surprise... :p
Red-Rifles section is more suited for modified Milsurplus rifles.
Milsurp is more for Purists and Collectors !!!

For the muzzle, IMO sks don't need a M/B.
It just don't fit well...It just look wrong.
Except if its a Yugo :yingyang:
But if you really want to put one, i will suggest you a AKS-74 style muzzle.
They look good and people say they really reduce recoil...

Look this Canadian seller, he have gr8 stuff for SKS's (and other rifles) and its a gr8 guy to work with.

AKS-74 Sty;e Muzzle Brake :

Threaded version...You can have it LH and RH threaded

Pin-On version :

And finally the Clamp-On version :

And my favorite is this one, reduce the recoil a little bit and its smaller so its not looking too big and wrong...

Avoid dust cover scope mounts. They look convenient to use but do not hold tight. I prefer to use Choate mounts cause that is what i am used to. Guys have also been happy with BC tactical scout scope mounts from what i have read here. For a red dot I think the drop in BC tac scout mount would be easiest for you to install since you don't have to do any drilling and tapping. You will still be able to use stripper clips to load too which is a great convenience.

I see you have the Tech sights. How are they working out for you? Better groups? Also, did you have a kivaari trigger job done by any chance? Nice looking rifle at any rate.

We never kicked you out on the Milsurp forum. It was suggested that you'd get better results in Red Rifles forum though. A lot of Chinese SKS's were made for the PLA and have some historical significance IMHO. PM me if you'd like to try a Russian SKS or an SVT-40 or some Mosin's. I'd like to try out your CZ 858. I'm a member at Poco and have lot's of ammo!

I really like the TechSight...
I have the TS200 model with the adjusting tool...
Aim is much improved but I will have to change my front post sight.
There i several forums about those sights on CGN and some will say its the *Best Setup for an SKS*

For the trigger, I plan to make a trigger job this winter...
I have a Wolf spring kit on hand...
Should be a gr8 shooter after that.
I really like my SKS ;)

Also, did you have a kivaari trigger job done by any chance ?

Tell me more about that, i'm curious...

yeah for sure chumlee.
Ive shot the russian SKS and Chinese SKS before. But havent shot a SVT-40 or Mosin.

The CZ 858 is fun, not the greatest for accuracy. To me, its more of a bush gun, then a range gun. If you know what I mean.;)

Let me know when you usually go to Poco, and ill meet ya there.

kivaari is the name of a guy who specializes in SKS trigger jobs. I guess he has done thousands by now, with a lot of happy customers. He has a website that you can find with a search of the word 'kivaari.' (Can't remember if I am allowed to link stuff like that, so I will play it safe). Only difficulty I see is whether or not you can ship a trigger group to and from the U.S. If not, there is a pretty detailed YouTube video showing how you could do one yourself if you felt adventurous. I was planning on getting an SKS (that is, until I shot my buddy's M14 this past weekend :p) and had intended to get the trigger done by that fellow. It really makes the trigger much more reasonable, according to everything I have read.
