30-06 vs 6.5 x55

30-06 or6.5x55 help me chose i have a old savage 110 that i will be rebarreling in the near future that is currently in 30-06 . the plans are rifle to shoot under 1000 m (even then thats stretching it) posible hunting. i already own a 6.5x55 in a m96 that shoots sub moa but its not as pretty as i would like. i reload so ammo is not a factor.

Go with the 6.5X55 and send those nice 142's right out there to 1K!!

The 6.5x55 would be a great choice for that application.

Another vote for 6.5X55, nothing wrong with 30-6 but for a lot of target shooting your shoulder will thank you.

Why not get the most out of that long action and go 6.5-06.

I'm considering the 6.5-280AI for a hunting rifle re-barrel.

Nice thing is no fire forming brass, simply neck down and enjoy the benefits of 6.5-06AI.

Savage 110 action is quite long so why not to use all avaliable lenght of magazine? 6,5mm-06 AI called "poor mans magnum" is quite a bit overbore and b/c of that ineficient. My vote goes to 280Rem or if the feeding is smooth then 280Rem RCBS improoved (28deg). I dont like steep 40deg shoulder on hunting rifle.
