Looking for a press for shotgun reloads

You can get the Lee Load All II for $42 out of the states and next up would be the MEC 600 JR. at around $250

If you want used cheaper keep an eye out at local gun shops and shows as well as the EE forums here for used MEC presses.
 
Put a want add on the EE reloading and ammo thread. I`ve had good luck selling and finding stuff. Usually see some used stuff at gun shows. Steer clear of Lee Load All presses, Pacific and Mec are good.
 
I thought that the Mec. 600jr. when for a lot less than that, anyhow that's the press you want unless you have money for a P-W single. I've seen used ones at gun shows for $100(Mec 600jr.), there are alot out there cus many folks have stopped reloading the 12 Ga.
 
If you go with a single stage mec pay the few extra dollars and get the sizemaster vs the 600JR. It comes with a primer feed system which you will eventually want and a collect style resizer which works much better on the fair to poor quality of hulls we get to reload today.

Usually single stage shotshell presses are a dime a dozen, well not quite that cheap, but close as the price of a bag of lead shot depending where you live is getting close to $45.00 for 22 kilos.
Have a bud that loads with the MEC Junior and does well. I like to use the Ponsness Warren 375 model myself. I have used progessive presses before and if you are not Mech. handy they can be troublesome to operate smoothly, at least they were for me. So I like to load them 1 at a time. FS

I would gladly pay $45.00 for a 22 kilo bag of lead shot as thats a smoken deal.although I am thinking you ment a 12 kilo bag :D.To the OP I have to agree don't waste your time and money on a Lee load all .buy a Mec 600 jr at the very least .
 
Apart from the EE here, check out garage sales and look on kijij.ca - that's operated by E-Bay so you aren't supposed to put firearm stuff on there but people do sneak it on, especially reloading gear since you don't have to use the words gun or firearm that might get caught.

I've loaded over 15000 rounds on a lee load all 2. I've never had a problem with any of my reloads. From 1/2oz girlie loads-slugs-buckshot. My 7/8oz loads come out perfect. The down side is you can't switch bushings when there's powder or shot in the hoppers
 
I wish lee made A 10 GAUGE LOADER I would buy one in a second I have the 12 and 20 loaded lots and lots. Opinions are like belly buttons every one has one
 
In my limited shotgun reloading I have found the quality and condition of the hull determines whether you will get a nice crimp or a bad one more so than the machine loading them.
 
I assume you are looking for a single stage if you are looking for cheap.

If you can find a used Ponsness Warren 375 grab it up. The Mec's are good, but if you want to change gauges at all the PW is much easier to set up for multiple gauges.

I find the PW's much nicer to operate then MEC's, but I think all the loaders out there are capable of producing fine quality ammo.

Man oh man 15,000 on a lee load all. You must have a ton of extra time on your hands.
You have to try a progressive some day I don't care what make and you will say good bye to your load alls.:)
The lees are fine for the average hunter that shoots a few boxes a year but after that it is just torture.
Loaders are like cars some guys are happy driving chevettes and will eventually get there others take the fast road and require a corvette
 
I can load a box in 8 minutes. That's checking over the hull and stacking them back in a box of 25. I handle each primer to. It works great till I forget to move a finger when the other hand slams the press down lol. I find it relieves stress as well

That is not bad but you have room for improvement;) Just joking
Lee rates that machine at 100 per hour and have had experienced reloaders hit as high as 200 which to me after trying one years ago is hard to grasp.. You are at 187.5 so almost in the group with the best of the best..
Mec rates the jr at 200 and the best I have ever done was 225, with 200 being the norm for me and they say 500 plus on the 9000g which is right and easy to hit .I have hit 575 on them but honestly could not do that every day on the manual machine..
So at 187.5 to 500 min for a progressive you would save a lot of time.:)
