5.56/.223 Powder

What powder do you folks recommend for loading 5.56/223 (shooting in an AR)...? Danke!

Hard to beat H4895 for plinking in an AR!!!

WC-735 surplus powder was designed for 5.56 and is cheap. Great velocities and accuracy too.

Ramshot TAC is what I use. Meters nice and consistent, and is clean. More money that WC-735.

If you can't source it, I would go with H4895.

W748 ball powder, measure perfectly. Not many powders fit in if you are reloading 55 , 62 0r any other longer boolets

Even Varget does not fit more than 21-23 grns - Biggs

Those are the 4 I've been using for everything from 55gr FMJBT to 69gr HPBT match.
Those should have all your bases covered no matter what bullet weight.
I've had the most success with Hodgden H4895.

H335 meters nice for high volume reloading. Varget is a more accurate powder but doesn't meter as nice.

WC735 is hard to find not h335

Again, as stated. Higginson's. Just ordered 21lbs of it. Good for years of shooting. And it is the only powder I use in all of my rifles.

What is it like to work with?

Friend got some for me at the F-class nationals. Someone was selling it there.

It has tiny kernels, like H322. Meters very well.
