Dry firing a shotgun

Would pulling the trigger on that shotgun really make or break the sale?
Im all for these folks turning away non-buyers.

I can appreciate a shotgun trigger isn't the most important thing when considering a shotgun purchase. But, if it's the worst trigger in the world, or a really bad one, then I could see how it might factor into a purchasing decision.

If you dry fire a gun in gone fishing they say you have to buy it ! I dont like whole sale or gone fishing

I had a chat with an old fella at the gun counter in WSS Nanaimo, and he seemed pretty decent. He just started pulling guns down even though he knew I wasn't shopping for one. He actually had an idea about what he was talking about too, which was a bit of a surprise!

Other than that and ordering my 870 online from them, I avoid the place. Generally terrible service.

My SA-08 weatherby states in the manual, before storing pull the trigger, of course in bold the first direction is ensure the gun is unloaded by following directions on page 16.

WSS often has no clue. It doesn't matter if it is in the gun section, fishing section or what... It seems that their 20 year old egos get in the way of any true knowledge. WSS is the Walmart of sporting goods. You get the type of employee you pay for.

so lemme get this straight..center fire rifles and shotguns are ok with dry firing.rimfires,no.
what about center fire semi auto handguns ..i was told to never dry fire a center fire revolver,,is thistrue (sorry, my question mark key makes a funny e when i press it.. É.. see :(

Shotgun triggers are meant to be jerked not slowly squeezed.

Huh:confused:....never heard this before? How would this work with twin trigger sxs???....give the poor bird both barrels?

What in the What?

Where in the hell did you learn that?

Not saying this is where the OP learned this, but it's definitely not unheard of since the government of BC taught me the same thing.
To get a hunting license in B.C. the C.O.R.E. course is required.

At the time I took the course, which predated the PAL and CFSC training we currently are required to have, the CORE firearms education would be the only formal training many people would have gotten on a shotgun.

The textbook for the course (1989 edition) saw fit to endorse the "slapping" of shotgun triggers as the proper method. :shotgun:

True; shotgun triggers are 'slapped', not squeezed 'rifle-style'.

Up to the user, I say. What's it matter! haha...

I suppose in snap shooting you don't have the time to deliberately "squeeze" off a round, hence the CFC idiots tried to invent another "rule". Suprised they didn't try to codify trigger slapping, prohibiting shotgun "trigger squeezing" in the process.
