First time I've shown off a rimfire! Update: Range report

My first gun was a .22. I shot it a fair bit, but ended up transfering it to a friend. It was a semi and not particularily accurate so it didn't intresest me much. Lately I've been looking at getting a good one and went into the gun store today. This followed me home:

CZ 452 Varmint with a Leupold 2-7 rimfire scope.
taking it to the range tomorrow with a whole pile of different ammo to try. Pretty excited.

Nice combination. Hope we get a range report.

If your semi is registered to you, I'd think about trying to get it back,
or at least change registration. Might come back, someday, to bite you in the bum.
 
He has a PAL and only uses it to shoot gophers on his farm once or twice a year so I'm not too concerned. They don't put a time limit on how long you can lend a gun to a PAL holder do they?
 
Oooh thats pretty gun. I looked at one in store once and really liked it but couldnt justify the cost, my savage shoots straight enough ;P. I've heard real good things about these czs's though. congratz on the pretty new gun.

Hope all goes well, till the LGR is scrapped.
 
First-off, I'd say the "loaner" is yours...or it's his...one or the other. If you don't want it back, then get a transfer going with the CFC and give it to him. He'll be happy, you're covering your tracks. I think you're putting yourself at risk unnecessarily. I've seen enough relationships go in strange directions...trust me.

On to the fun stuff...

That rifle looks pretty sweet~congratulations! I'm a CZ fan, though I don't currently own one. Have my eye on a Scout as a field/carry gun for long hikes in the woods. Looking forward to owning a CZ again mostly. :) Look forward to the range report too!
 
I had one but the first and best info I received was to make certain the barrel is scrubed clean before using it. That took more time than normal but was good advice. Freezing the barrel lug followed the trigger job. The first trip to the range produced groups of .16, .25 and .37 at 50 m. Then I traded it for a Model 700V in .25-06. Just checked my documents and the barrel/dovetail lug procedure and bedding the action are still there if anyone is interested.
 
My son's CZ loves the Remmy subsonics. I wouldn't buy more than one box, if I were you, as most 22's I've tried really don't care for it.
 
Got to the range today and shot ~200 rounds. It was quite windy, which sucked and probably threw off some groups. Regardless it still shot awesome! I brought 6 types of ammo and shot 5-rounds groups with each type. I didn't clean the bore before I took it out as it looked quite clean.

I also brought out my spinning targets and it never had an issue picking off the small one (1") everytime at 50 yards.

I didn't try it at 100, figured it was too windy for a fair assesment at that distance.

I also love the glass, perfect scope for a all round rimfire IMO.
 
Going back to the range tomorrow, hopefully it's not so bloody windy. Any tips for other brands that I should try?

I saw CCI green tag and wanted to try, but $17/100 is pretty steep. The whole point of .22lr is the cost savings right?
