Going to start loading for a 25-06 , never owned one before.

Already have some info from some other members on here.

Just wondering what the favorites are out there.

Do you have a specific deer load, varmint load, all use load?

Thanks for any ideas.

I used the Hornady 120gr HP over 52gr of IMR 4831. Under an inch 3 shots at 100 yds. Complete pass through on 5 whitetails from 25 yds to 250+yds and one coyote at aboout 300 yds. I would use that bullet on anything. A 120gr Partition would be a great load too.

Let me know if any of those bullets don't work for you as I might want to try them in my 257. I'm in town most days.

The Sierra 117gr SBT is what works best for me. I've increased the C.O.A.L. above what's suggested in the manual to minimize the freebore in my rifle.

I'm plannning on using the 80 gr TTSX out deer hunting next year, or maybe the 90gr GMX, depending on how they shoot.

What kind of velocities are you guys getting?

If I can get a long range varmint load(500+ yards with accuracy) that will work on deer for closer distances why keep two different loads I am thinking.

I've had great luck with the 110gr. Nosler Accubond (+3150fps) and the 100gr. Barnes TTSX (+3300fps) - both with IMR4350. I use the same load for coyote and big game.

i use 100gr ttsx barnes ,R19 50gr. in my tikka... shoots super group at 100 yards a 3 shot group has all three bullet holes touching . still havent figured out how to post pics

When I was shooting a 25-06 i was using 100 nosler partitions with 52-53 grains of IMR 4350. My velocity was in the 3225 fps with accuracy in the 1/2- 1" range. My barrel was only 22 inch hence the little lower velocities. For deer hunting the 100 grainers at the above velocity will handle most chores you could ask of them.

I have tended to use 120 gr. bullets for deer hunting and 87 gr, for varmints. But with todays premium 100 gr bullets, they may be the best choice. Stick with one load and just vary the bullet construction for the game of the day.

Same here - but at 3300 out of a 24" barrel.
