hand held ballistics calculator

I use iSnipe in my iPhone and I also have the 5.11 Tactical HRT watch with ballistics calculator built in. Both are very accurate but the watch is definitely more handy since it's always with me. It's easy to program and has worked well for me so far.

Ballistic: FTE is great on the iPhone. It uses the JBM ballistic computer, so it's very accurate.

First round hits out to nearly 1000 yards with it, as long as I judge the wind correctly.

This is the one I use. It has all of the models in the JBM library, including the Litz ones.

i've got an android. which is better, Bullet Flight or Shooter?

I use Shooter. Pretty much complete with most advanced options/features. Works very well. Not super fast as said earlier but good enough for range time.
Bluetooth compatible with Kestrel also.

Strelok is more simple, less options and less integrated data.

I've got Ballistic and iSnipe on my iPod but nothing for my BlackberryPlaybook that I just got.

anyone have anything running on a playbook?

I just threw something together, I'll let you two have a freebie :). But I'm off the the GF's for a day or too, maybe ready around the weekend.

That's an emulator, I don't actually have a Playbook at hand. Some of the screens will be underpopulated, since it is really a phone app.

edit March 07: A day late and a dollar short:

I submitted it as a freebie to the Blackberry App store. "Playbook Ballistics". Now available They really want control of the distribution. Sorry it took so long to approve.

It has to go through the store, they have it so I can't sensibly give it to people.
Frank

It has geolocation, coriolis and so on, I would appreciate it if somebody would let me know if it works on a real Playbook, thanks!

It's a fine laddie you are!

And they laughed at us for buying the Playbook!

Thanks a lot, I'd love to see it.

Blackberry. SOmething called GunSim. Entered my data for bullet weight and Muzzle Velocity. It gives zeros for ranges in yards or meters as well as wind and lead for whatever parameters you enter. Had to tamper with the BCs to get it true to my known data for 100-200-300-400-500 and 600. enter any range in top line and data seems to automatically recalculate through the table. Kind of neat -- but I already have the simple stuff in my notebook so unsure what value this technology serves. Might be neat for field firing if targets fall in between the "mounds.." I think the handheld device woul dbe the shortcoming with this. It WILL fall and break, assuming it survives the rainstorm and I don't sit on it and the battery doesn't go dead. I heard stories that iPhone with cases are more robust. I have an otterbox cover thingy and BBerry has survived rough "office" handling, but I wouldn't take it in the rain.

any good programs for android?

Shooter for $5 is what I invested in. Used JBM and Litz stuff. You cannot use 2 wind values (min and max) like iSnipe, but you can adjust for muzzle velocity to match real life results and the BC calculated by Litz.

In iSnipe, you have to adjust the BC and not the MV. If Shooter had 2 wind values instead of one, it would be better than iSnipe I think.
