Vault got NR approval for the Kel-Tec KSG!

Lanz is expecting first shipment in February. Canadian list is $995.

A bargain... one just sold on GunBroker for $2400 USD... Ouch...

From some of the KTOG guys, there appears to be almost 1/4 million pre-orders in the US alone....Maybe I can get a part time gig as an assembler at Kel-Tec (love Coco Beach)!

Several months ago, a gun magazine had a report on this shotgun and they found it well built, reliable and suffered no problems with the feeding cycles etc...

It has what other shotguns lack in it's size: ammo capacity...

What's not to like?....As to the price, I suspect like all prices, it will drop...

On a 2 way range..if you use that many shotgun rounds..you should have brought a rifle IMHO.
Regardless..to each his own.

On some of the courses I've been on there were many opportunities to use more than the standard cap of say the 870 platform. One of the things that is sort of a pain in the ass it the need to constantly be feeding shells into the shotgun. This is a course of fires that assumes there are multiple threats, where you are moving and are likely to miss some of the targets as well, etc. So, the need for shell cap is there in this instance. I can't speak to how these were employed in place like Iraq and Afghanistan, all I know is they made good use of shotguns so maybe my thinking is flawed.

The question I have is ease of loading of the KSG for this type of scenario. The 870 or Winchester designs are very easy to feed while on the move etc. Not so sure how fast one could "power up" the KSG in a fluid environment such as that.

I really want TorontoIpad to get his and come up and we can have a sort of "platform comparison test with his UTS15, KSG and some of my 870's and semi autos.

I'd be curious how fast one could get, say 30 rounds off between the platforms. I have a suspicion after the first 15 the 870 type will keep up, but that remains to be seen as I've not had a chance to handle these new types of shotgun and practice reloads with them.

THAT would be a very interesting and useful comparison. Hope if anyone does it that they include a Winchester 1300 or SXP Defender, as I'd guess that platform would end up in second place, if it didn't beat the KSG. Very quick-firing gun.

.

And all of those combined Still don't come to 15 rounds.

Grizz mag fed - 5+1
870- Mine holds 9+1
cooey 84 - I don't know
Double - 2

even without the cooey i see 18 rounds there... just saying...

If it were cheaper I'd buy one, but the way that 3gun matches i shoot are setup it's not the right gun for the job. a grizzly would work better for me. my 870 does pretty good too.
