Bucket lists

food

I gotta ask, do people eat lion? Or is that just for trophy?

Like I know typically people don't eat carnivores, but I don't know anything about african foods.

Didn't eat cats where I hunted them in Zambia, don't know about other areas.

Guys the bucket lists are dreams and as stated initially "if money was no issue"

Considering a maned lion hunt in Botswana or Zambia goes for over $100,000, I wouldn't begin to wager a guess what a steak goes for !!! :D

No one hunts lion for food, but some tribes eat pretty much anything so I suppose lion would be on their menu as well.

A New Zealand hunt for red stag....

I also want to hunt hogs with hounds, in a highly populated area.....Might be doing this in Georgia in shortly.

1) Derby Eland ..... Ultimate antelope trophy
2) Elephant ..... Should be on everyone's list
3) Giant Sable ..... if I live long enough for them to reopen it
4) Stone Sheep ..... Should have hunted them while I lived in BC
5) Brown Bear ..... How do you grow up reading about them and not want to hunt them?
6) Muskox ..... Prehistoric and tasty

I've managed to do most of the hunts that I wanted most; a couple that still have a high priority are coastal brown bear and polar bear. A big, sling a hammock between the antlers moose was supposed to happen on its own by now, but somehow hasn't.

This is a hunting forum,(look at the header) for those of us who hunt, to kick around ideas and wishes and problems, and get advice etc. etc. etc.................
If you are a non hunter I respect that choice, but I question why you would opine on this thread? Greenpeace is on a completely different website, perhaps you should opine there !!!!

Oh I am quite the avid hunter and have harvested oodles of animals. I only kill what I can eat or use. So I guess my list is real short, I need a moose and 2 deer every year, until I kick the bucket.

Bucket list confined to hunting specific goals:
Take a Bull Moose
Eiders on the Bay
Turkey
Wild Boar, both with firearms and primitive weapons
Waterfowl hunting in every North American Flyway
Follow the migration from September on and then follow spring snow geese back up to Canada
Argentina and New Zealand for both big game and wingshooting
Caped Buffalo
Stag and Birds in Scotland
and finally make a triple on Ruffed grouse on the wing.

1)Having shot a few decent bull elk in the past few years, I think my first one on the list would be a trip to New Zealand for Red Stag...very majestic animals.

2) Africa for the "Big Five"...always been a dream.

3) Last but not least...Yukon during the rut for moose.

Much better post;) I guess you could eat anything, if you wanted to...I WILL try all the game I take!

My list would bs the North American 29 but that's just a dream, I've started by first attaining legal big game in AB, I've got three left
Pronghorn antelope
Bison
Big horn sheep
And I need a book mulie, I've come close lots but just can't get there.
Great thread btw, neat to see the different goals everyone has

Damn :( i guess my bucket is one of those cheap plastic ones the kids use at a beach :p

All I have on mine is:

To find a chunk of land that would let me get a nice cottontail any day I want to go out.

Participate in a "free for all" gopher shoot in some gopher heavy area (lucky to see 3 groundhogs a year here anymore :( )

Northern Wolf. A real wolf, not the smaller ones in Ontario, but something majestic. And really, size wouldn't matter (obviously the bigger the better, but I don't need a record setting monster) as much as finding one with the right coloring and coat on it.

That's it. All the big game species & trophies out there, in NA, Africa and parts of Europe just don't capture my dreams. With the exception of the Wolf, I don't care for "trophies" - I know that any moral trophy hunter ensures the meat is used and not wasted, so don't think I"m bashing trophy hunters.

My bucket list would be pretty short.
Win the lotto and buy some acerage with back yard to crown land access.
I would sure like to learn how to call moose and elk within shooting range.
