GTA Fobus dealers

Same as the fobus, as noted above. Substandard materials, poor retention, etc.

I don't see the point of sitting here and typing out an essay on the failings of a K-mart grade holster. Spend an hour researching holsters and you will know plenty. I am not interested in trying to convince you of anything.

OK.... If you say so.

All I use mine for is steel challenge. Never had an issue with retention, as all I have to do is walk up to the shooting position, shoot, and retreat.

The Fobus with it's locking feature, does appear to be a accident waiting to happen.

If all you do is drive your car from one end of the driveway to the other, you'll never know if it handles like a Ferrari or a Pinto.

 My car handles like a Fiesta thank you?

What the H does this have to do with the holster I use?????

Wow, a real bunch of gear snobs on this forum.

A Fobus holster holds your gun on your belt while you are waiting to shoot. Same as any other holster.

Just trying to prevent people from wasting their money.

BTW- poor holsters can damage guns, have retention issues and be of poor ergonomics.

But as you say they are all the same..

If all you need is a holster that holds your gun for a bit while you stand around, yes, a Fobus is as good as anything else.

I would wreck a Fobus in about a month or two of use, personally. How do I know? I've had Fobus stuff - all of which I got in package deals. It gets wrecked, because it's cheap plastic. Dropping to urban prone on cheap holsters, for example, tends to wreck them. The mag pouches have similar problems and the tacky surface makes drawing from them slow.

Am I a gear snob because I wreck cheap gear and need better quality? Or do some people just legitimately need - and consequently recognize and recommend - quality gear?

If you drive on a gravel road once a year, you are fine with a stock 2wd Ford Ranger. If you want to drive the Rubicon, you will need a real 4x4. If you go to an offroad forum and ask, "are factory Ranger axles good ones to buy?" most offroaders will tell you to buy something much higher quality because they are aware of the failure rates of the cheap factory parts when pushed hard.

If you begin with the proviso, "I will ask absolutely nothing of the gear" then sure, get Ranger axles. Get a Fobus. Buy whatever. Stuff the gun in a folded piece of cardboard. It's basically free and will still hold the gun.

But understand WHAT you are buying, and that if it's good enough for what you do, that's only because you happen to be doing so little with the gun that you can get away with using something that is very cheaply built.
