Before I get flamed for this I've read 20 pages into this thread, and 10 pages into the main battle rifles thread and a few pages into the hunting/sporting thread and found nothing of any real value.

I am thinking of purchasing an RFB when Wanstalls (best price I've found so far) gets their next shipment and would like to hear opinions from people that own them or have owned them.

I'm not interested in the opinions of people that haven't owned or shot them or from people that just don't like bulpups or just don't like anything Kel-Tec.

I would like some range reports and some opinions on ergonomics.
Reloading results.
What do/did you like and/or hate about it? If you didn't like it what other non restricted 308 would you or did you buy to replace it?
Why did you sell it?
Was anything other than the bad welds corrected with the Gen2?

Even if people could list some good links to info that would help me out.
I've searched the internet and have found lots of stuff but most of it is American redneck videos showing how fast a 20 round mag can be dumped or is straight from Kel-Tec.

I would like to buy a used one but it seems that everyone wants to make money on this rifle. Where do people get off charging more for a used one than you can get one new? The only one on the EE right now is $100 more than a new one costs including tax and shipping:mad:

Have one. Like it. Not selling. Bullpup .308 is unique - nothing to dislike at this point.

Mine hasn't had any kind of mechnical failure (bad welds), but mags need to be lubed like crazy or loading the next round is iffy.

The only downside is that it doesn't come threaded (not a big deal) and we can't own suppressors...
 
Got it...love it...won't part with it...will say I can't do any better than 2 MOA on it...find it's pretty finicky with reloads that I've tried to put through it (given to me...I'm not a reloader). Apparently you void the warranty if you thread the barrel (which I did). I haven't had any of the weld issues either.

No, you can safely thread the muzzle without voiding the warranty and you don’t even have to remove the barrel to do it. Our wholesaler in Canada knows a company that can do this for you if needed.

Mine was mag picky, I have some LAR8 mags inbound, they're polymer, and I hear they're sweet. I also threaded the barrel and put a brake on it.
 
Love mine,perfect bush gun,short and compact,attention getting at the range,I brought my registration papers with me hunting and it was a good thing too because I he to show game warden it was non restricted
As for dislikes the only thing is what was said before I can get 1.5.moa but that works for what I'm hunting.as for getting one on the next shipment I believe there is stIll a waiting list on them although I might be wrong
 
I have had lots of rifles and pistols .
The RFB has been the only one that made me ...
Grin ear to ear with the first shot and I bring limited amounts
Of ammo to the range to keep me from firing it all night .
It has optical limitations and iron sight limitations .
For now it's not for sale .
New or used you have to get one , the experience is worth it .
If it's not for u sell it ;)
 
@Bazooka...thanks for that info. I was just going by what Vault is saying on their forum. I'm glad to hear I'm not voided :D

@Throttle...yep...the polymer mags are MUCH better...however, I find mine don't drop free. They're not super tight or anything, they can be removed ok...just don't drop out when you hit the release.
 
I got one, love it very much, very cool little rifle. It takes time to get use to, at the beginning I couldn't get any decent groups out of it, almost lost hope, then with more practice it started getting better. Now I'm satisfied with the accuracy, 2-3 inch @ 100 with regular ammo is good enough for me. I also noticed that it changes POI once you switch to bipod. I also happen to be one of the very few people with the welds problem. The weld on one side broke, but it was quickly looked after by the dealer, I got new parts with in few weeks. Still love the rifle and planing on keeping it.
 
I just tried mine out this past weekend for the first time..

No complaints yet. Small, compact...but deceivingly VERY heavy...easy to take down...ingenious design....

RRA Polymer Mags run fine.(no lube required on those)


Too much snow at the range to get out there anymore now.....have to wait until Spring to try some reloading.

I love mine, shoots great and looks cool...you know how important it is to have a cool rifle. Not trying to steal the thread but, what weld issues? Can someone just quickly enlighten me?
 
the price new is $2399.00 plus taxes and a wait list of 6 months to a year, there is an almost brand new one with $200.00 of extras for $2650 on the EE.
thats not a bad price at all, and your certainly not getting gouged...

Great post Fireball, someone needs to add something to it to bump it back into circulation. I'll find it and add to it after I get my hands on one.

As to the availability, I've been messaging with Gary at Wanstalls and he told me he is going to contact me when the next batch arrives, expected in March.

I am getting excited, I wish they had them in stock now. I want one now while I have the cash ready, I am in the middle of buying another acreage and I'm sure money will get tight as soon as the deal goes through.

You call $200 worth of extras a clamp on grip/bi-pod? I can buy that off ebay for $50.
If it's used I would like to see it cheaper than I can get one new. Otherwise I'll wait to buy a new one that I know the real round count and how it's been treated.

Really like mine, have had no problems with the mags I've used (well, one mag doesn't load the last round reliably, but I think it's just badly pinned). Reasonably accurate - haven't really measured, but it's sufficient for blasting pop cans out in the bush. While the ergonomics aren't great, they're not bad - though I personally much prefer the location of the mag release and bolt release on the Tavor.

Given the ergonomics, I wouldn't consider it a "tactical" rifle, but if you look at it as a hunting or sporting rifle, it's great :)

yeah your probably right... i probably have no idea what im talking about.. im also pretty sure there is no wait list with Gary at Wanstalls either.
