Well I finally got to take my new Glock 22 to the range and after firing 250 rounds it was pretty crudded up with powder fouling, I was just wondering what tools and techniques people use to get in all the nooks and crannies. Such as under the extractor claw, and in the frame.

I have an Otis cleaning kit for my G17 and its works great! All the tools you'll need and comes with a bottle of lube/solvent for cleaning and lubrication + some patches. Dont over lube!!!!!!! A couple drops on the slide rails, front of the barrel where it contacts the slide, trigger spring area (small amount) and underside of the barrel in that notch (cant think of the name for it right now). Use a Q-tip to spread it all around. It costs around $100. If you want a less expensive option then just buy a $10 bottle of lube/solvent, some patches and a more convenient bore brush then what Glock provides. Any fine point tool you have at home will get into the small areas to remove the powder build up.
I vote you always keep you gun clean as its a precision tool. Others will say "oh well its a glock and I havent cleaned it in 5000 rounds and its still working fine." True, glocks work very well with very little maintenance but you paid $ for it and if you love it like a child, which you should, then change you babies diaper!!!!

There's no secret method for cleaning any firearm. Use a decent nitro solvent like Hoppes #9 or similar. If it looks dirty clean/wipe it. Once wiped(or scrubbed/scraped) clean I wipe it dry with a clean patch or cloth. Extractor can be removed if you're so inclined, otherwise you can scrap underneath with a dental pick or similar tool. Finish with some lubrication.

Don't worry about getting it "white glove" clean; a quick wipe-down is sufficient most of the time. Adequate lubrication is far more important.
Realistically, you don't really need to clean your gun all that frequently unless you're carrying it for defense of yourself and/or others. 250 rounds isn't a high round count in the scheme of things. Use it like a dirty whore! Do you want to spend more time cleaning or shooting?

dont overlube your glock, only use lube in the recomended areas, and sparingly... you will guarantee a filthy glock in a few hundred rounds because the residue just clings to everything thats greasy.. keep parts that dont require lube nice and dry, makes cleaning soo much less of a chore, plus, built up grease and gunk in the striker channel can create reliability problems
