Will we ever see the 7.62x54r go mainstream for ammo?

I would be happy with nosler making a partition bullet in .311so that I could reload them.

I've been loading with the Hornady .312s. They shoot better in every rifle i own. Both the cost of the S&B and PRVI is worth the cost just to get the good brass, even if its not the bullet weight you first desire.

I buy the PRVI now for the brass then i load with a 123 gr bullet or 50 gr of powder. shoots great. I would just love nosler to make a partition bullet for .311 312 I have a lot of respect for that bullet for hunting heavy animals (moose). I have used prohunters on moose and bear out of one of my mosins and had good results i just would like to have the best bullet around to stuff into my cases.

Interesting. have you shot them through a chronograph? I'm thinking they might scream, because I use 51.5gr of powder for my 150 gr Hornady in .312 diameter. I haven't measured them either but my trajectory puts me just a bit behind 2500fps.

No I don't have a chrony but the guy I got the load from said 3000fps +.

Great. Tried ordering some 180gr pills from Tradeex. Anthony said basic ground shipping is 90 bucks. Guess I will be getting rid of my Polish M44 and getting another 30-06. There is something to be said for ammo availablilty. :(

Usually a case of ammo from TradeEx includes free shipping. How did it add up to $90. I've never seen an estimate that high.
PM me about your Polish M44 if you really want to sell it..

That was for 2 boxes (40 rounds) :( . I literally live at the end of the earth. I can't imagine what a crate would cost.

@davemccarthy707: exactly WHERE at the end of the earth? I was 2 years on Fogo Island. You can see the Edge of the World from the top of Brimstone Head. Several of my friends had been over it and had not fallen off!

Your best bet, friend, is handloading for the 7.62x54R. Dies and brass, any other tools, slugs all can go by mail, no problems. Only thing you will have to have "shipping" for is powder and primers. There are shops in Grand Falls and Corner Brook which stock these, not to mention Town itself. Do you have a local Club? Might be possible co-op purchases with other members. Try Higginson Powders; they ship anywhere and have small depots in many places. Usually a truck going somewhere and back, driver will p/u what you need for a bottle of rum come Christmas.

Often a local Hardware will order these things in for you, although it might take time. I would have ordered through Woolfrey Bros. in Lewisporte, but the quantities I was using were just too big!

Good luck!

I am exactly half way between Clarenville and Marystown. I may just pick up some 150gr Prvi at 35 dollars a box next trip to town. What rots me is I can walk 300 feet to the hardware store and buy 308, 30-06 etc. I have toyed with the idea of reloading, however I am no where near a club and my shooting volume is really low :(

I put the rifle in the EE.
