Glock 22 - never owned one yet but after watching the torture tests and accuracy videos followed by the abundance of parts and mags this would be a must have for when you need it the most. Also the option for high capacity mags if you ever needed them.

Revolver in .357 - there simple and almost always work. 357 is a great round with enough power and ammo availability. Also my better half doesn't have hands strong enough to work a pistol properly and struggles, but her revolver goes bang and she can run it better than me. Also .357 is easily handled by most everyone. Pick any quality revolver no bias. I have a Ruger GP100 4.2 right now but the 6" S&W are nice.

1911 - No reason I have just always wanted one and will likely be my next purchase.

If you could only own three handguns, what would they be?

For me,

They'd be my S&W 686 4.2'', my Beretta Model 70 .22lr, and a 1911 in 45acp, which I don't currently own.

S&W 686-6 4.2'' .357 Magnum:

I have always had a love for Smith & Wesson revolvers in general. I've owned several 5 and 6 inch S&W revolvers over the years, but not until recently was a restricted "4 inch" model offered.

One of the first revolvers I ever handled much belonged to my late friend and gun smith, and was his first pick. It was a S&W 686-3 4'' in blued stainless. It was some sort of custom order or something in the late 80's.

Also, I carried a S&W Model 64 four inch .38spl at work, and used to admire my Uncles Model 10-5 four inch RCMP issue, and Safariland speed loaders as a kid.

So again, the 686 I now own is the closest I can come. I'm happy with it in every way, except I'm not overly fond of that silly internal lock... I may remove it someday.

The 45acp 1911:

In my opinion the 1911 is the best auto pistol ever developed. I know there have been several developments in auto pistols since it's debut, but to me, they all seem basically the same. I've owned HK, Glock, Smiths, CZ's, among several others; but they all come back to the 1911 in some way.

The Browning Hi-Power or "P-35" also has a special place in my mind, but there are several things about it I dislike when compared to the 1911 in general.

On the 1911 platform I've owned Colts, Para, STI, Taurus, Remington, Kimber, among others; in 22lr, .40sw, and 45acp.

After this, now I'm on the hunt for "my" 1911 in 45acp, preferably a 5'' model. (love to work a trade, PM me!)

My Beretta Model 70 .22lr:

Just a neat, slim, .22. My grandfather owned one, I remember looking it over the odd time as a kid as well. Mine is about 5'' long, so it's restricted. Everybody needs a 22 pistol or revolver, this is mine.

If I get a chance I'll upload some photos, I have some of the 686-3 blued stainless .357 that the late owner left to his son...

All the best,

John

After careful research and consideration, as for my future 1911, I think it will be a Kimber Custom TLE II or Stainless TLE II

I need to clear out some stuff so I can get one!

I had a Kimber stainless TLEII in 45acp. Sold it and have regretted that decision. It's a great pistol for the money. However, I'm not sure on Kimber quality today as this was about 6-7 years ago.

Here's my top 3 list. Lucky for me I already own them...:):

Wilson Combat CQB rail 45acp
S&W 629 Classic DX
Glock 17 or M&P 9...(toss up)

Honorable mention goes out to the Wilson Supergrades and anything from Nighthawk. Ya, I like my 1911's....

I only own three so easy question,
S&W 686 plus 5",unfluted
Ruger SR9
Buckmark Camper Stainless .22
Happy for now:D

SW M&P 9mm or .40 (hard to decide)
Ruger GP100 .357 4.2" Stainless
Ruger .22LR of any kind

Primarily for ammo availability and apparent durability in all cases. Severely biased, as I am inexperienced in handguns and just bought a GP100 as my first.

-Les Baer or Nighthawk Custom 1911 in .45 ACP

-Walther PPQ in 9 mm

-And maybe a Desert Eagle in .50 AE just for kicks

Will probably end up with the PPQ for a first handgun as 9 mm is cheaper to shoot. But hopefully a nice 1911 wont be too far behind. I dont know why, but the 1911's just rub me the right way.

Is it just me or does anuone else here think that this is not quite what the OP meant. But maybe I am wrong I can only hope. Great choices.

Sig Sauer 1911 - Love the 1911 design, greatest pistol ever. In my opinion the Sig touch adds just the right amount of modern to the 1911.

Sig Sauer P226 - I love mine and trust it more than my 1911. I enjoy shooting the 9mm so much.

Desert Eagle .357 - The calibre the desert eagle was made cool in, and doesn't look bling.

-S&W M&P 9 or Glock 17
-Quality 1911 and .22 conversion kit
-My S&W Model 29 with custom 5" barrel
