Bucket lists

As a teenager growing up in Saskatchewan I had the privilege of being drawn for Pronghorn Antelope and totally enjoyed hunting them.... and would seriously love to do it again.
I would also love to go Sheep hunting, be it Bighorn, Stone, or Dall or all three.
And last on my list... Bison.
I have no desire to go to Africa only because I could never afford to.
Unfortunately the clock is ticking so at 66 I'd better get with it... :)

My bucket list would be pretty short.
Win the lotto and buy some acerage with back yard to crown land access.
I would sure like to learn how to call moose and elk within shooting range.

hehe...I'll sell you my place when you win the lotto...Crown Land to the West and North of my acreage...;)

You'd be surprised at how cheap you can hunt Africa for, maybe not the big 5 but you can do a multi species plains game hunt in the $2500 range. That's cheaper than most outfitted whitetail hunts in North America. Mind you that doesn't include airfare but still, unless you live in sheep country I don't think you could hunt them that cheap!

Now here's a doable one, you have all of your wishlist within your home province,
all you got to do is "GIT AT 'ER" we ain't gettin' any younger.

If you apply for dall in north B.C. I'll go with ya, I love sheep hunting and you have to come through Whitehorse anyway to access the zone where they live.

I virtually live in Sheep country but for that type of hunting its a good idea to have a partner....

That sounds like the beginning of a great plan... :)

I've got all the right gear after 30 years of T+E, all you need is foamy, GOOD boots, sleeping bag (pillow if your a pussy) and 400 mtr capable rifle. (oh ya, Crown Royal for morning coffee)
And please don't say 270, there are BIG f......g bears in that country, they're coastal grizzly in there. I can not carry a rifle in B.C., not a res.

Crown Royal ?? I find high favor with Forty Creek & coffee... :)
Must do some research... there is one breed of Sheep that a Canadian non- resident can hunt in BC, but I'm not certain which... might be in the Kootenays ?
Rifles... I'm very fond of an old not too heavy 300 H&H, my 264 Mag. maybe a bit light for bears and I'm working with a very accurate 9.3X62 but it may be a bit shy of being a 400 mtr. rifle.
Lots of food for thought.... ;)

What, no elephant? They really can get the adrenaline pumping, especially when they are trying to occupy the same truck seat you're in, positively terrifying.

Yes for sure, Ele is up there but that's one I have on the current plans and can afford. Lion's the bucket list hunt, as except for questionable operations with low success in Mozambique (not to mention a likely strained population I wouldn't hunt anyhow), there's nothing I can afford in the near future. Zambia will be where I go for Lion, and the PH is already a good friend with strong Lion experience there. I need to stack up some numbers before booking that one, the .375 I penned about will be there of course.

Ya hunted bighorn in Okanagan with a moose hunter, needless to say it was a bust. Nothin' wrong with the H+H, some 165 boattails for rams and some 200 TSX for the banana claws, as long as they hit within 3" of each other at a hundred. I've built a 6 lb all up, scope, shells and sling 300WSM specifically for sheep hunts, I'd be happy to lend

Now were talkin! Can we get some ####' of your sheep rifle:D

Grand slam of north american wild sheep. I've killed three stone rams but have never traveled away from home to hunt sheep. Living in BC I can hunt R.M. bighorns, stones, dalls and even California Bighorns. I'll never be able to afford a desert sheep so I kind of gave up on the other species. Pretty tough to get a grand slam without the other three though.

I am, as someone called me a while ago on this site, "an old pelter" and honestly do not know how to go about it. My son said he would show me so hopefully in the near future. I was asked earlier in this thread for some pics of my fullfilled bucket critters, I'm trying, if the thread don't die to quick I'll try and make it happen.

Mtn Boo and Swamp Donkeys

I think my bucket list would centre more around the hunting experience than on a specific species. That said I would love to be able to hunt these spots before I kick, if only I could afford them:

- Alaska or the Yukon (Mountain Cariboo or Moose)
- B.C. (Sheep,Goats and Coastal Black Bear)
- Siberia (???? the experience would be awesome)

More realistic hunts would be:

Colorado or New Mexico for Elk/Mule Deer
Wyoming or Montana for Antelope
Newfoundland (Caribou/Moose/Black bear)

I love the wild places so although there might be some cool African hunts they have never intrigued me as much as North America. Sheep or Goat hunting in Asia would be a great experience but totally unaffordable for most.

The Mtn Boo and swamp donkeys in the Yukon basically a 0 cost hunt. You can hunt these 2 species without an outfitter, all you need is a resident who can get a special guiding permit to hunt you. Few bucks for licensing, gas and grub and you're good to go. Assuming you're Can res. Totally doable !!!

Show us some pics of your Ovis Dalli Stonei's, C'mon everybody can't be as computer challenged as I.
