Eley Team = chronic misfeeds into Ruger 22/45?

I've been shooting CCI Standard Velocity through my Ruger 22/45 Mk III Hunter. I decided to try a box of Eley Team to see if my groups tighten up, to see if my groups are the result of the gun or me. I rarely get misfeeds with the CCI, maybe 1 for every 500 rounds. To my dismay, I only got through 20 rounds of Eley before giving up. It seems that the Eley cartridges jam directly into the base of the feed ramp and get stuck. I had about 15 misfeeds and couldn't hit a 3 inch target at 7 yards. I'm pretty choked at the misfeeds (the box cost me $15) - to contrast, I had no misfeeds with the CCI that day. I am hesistant to purchase another box of Eley and I'm glad I didn't spring for the Tenex which was $26 per box. Could it be that this particular box of Eley Team was defective or is this a chronic problem as the result of cartridge dimensions or bullet shape? Has anyone else experienced a chronic feed problems for Eley/Ruger?

FED 525 bulk, CCI Blazer and Minimag works fine with me. It could be some Hollow points have some problems with your ramp. Try round nosed bullets.

That's a semi? The Eley ammo is likely designed to be fed single or in a bolt action, stick wit the cheaper ammo and you will probably see the problem go away.

You will need to try eley sport, green box. the. Cheaper round nose, the blunt noses on the team are likely to blame. If you are in AB pm me I can point you to a seller.

Often it is the difference in lubricants between the two brands. Try a clean before using the Eley, generally it feeds properly. CCI SV demonstrates a few tiny differences in size from other brands as well. SK plus gives light strikes in my FAS 602, but CCI never does.

I purchased some SK Pistol Match Special (1132 fps) And I gave some to a friend to try our in his brand new Ruger RG. It worked wonderfully without feeding issues, & very accurate also at 25 yards.

Edit: I'm very surprized someone has issues with SK Standard Plus (1050 fps). I've seen many Walthers and Pardini semi-autos that run just fine with this ammo.

+1 on the Sport, it shoots very well for me in a couple of rifles. I have never tried it in my 22/45, the thing is stupid accurate with Federal 525 bulk ammo and I am already the weak link in the system, so it doesn't need to be any more accurate for me.

I tried Eley Sport in my Ruger Mark III. For me it was only a little slightly better (accuracy wise) than CCI standard velocity but, I had a few of feedings/extraction problems out of about 300 rds. Not a good thing when your shooting in a league. I will stick to CCI for my Ruger. I will only use the Eley Sport for my target rifles, as I'm too cheep to buy a pricer ammo.
