Loading for a CZ Tactical Sport in .40 and am looking for some ideas for good match ammo that will work in this gun. I will likely be using mostly 180 gr plated and cast. May experiment with 200 gr as well. For this gun I have to load short; 1.130-1.135" so I would need loads that would correspond. Thanks for any info you might have!

I'm getting major PF with 5.2gr of Universal, 180gr AIM projectiles, Fed 200 primers and OAL of 1.135. I did install a stronger spring for the hotter load though. I found factory ammo sometimes had trouble making major PF.

I should get some to try. Any experience with cast bullets using it? Does it cause fouling or excessive smoke?

I used to use Titegroup....I also had my barrel throated so I could load out to 1.210" to drop pressures. Worked real well with 200 grain RNFP plated bullets form Frontier......

I have been using 180 gr plated bullets with 5.0 grains of Bullseye to good results, but I haven't chronographed it. At the time, I did the math and aimed to get a power factor of 175 out of it. I forget what OAL I used.

So I checked my load data... that load won't get anywhere near major. PF is in the 140's. I must just have misremembered.

I did some rough math and extrapolating based on the Speer load data, you'd need beyond the max load for Bullseye by a couple of tenths of a grain in order to make major. So, I wouldn't recommend trying. There are some loads that will get you there (Power Pistol for example) without exceeding max charge, but not with Bullseye.

This prompted me to order a new .45 as you can safely make major in that caliber with Bullseye LOL

I am loading 7.0 gr of Longshot behind a 180 gr Berry's Plated tcfp at 1.129 OAL. I havent chronied it but should be in the 1050-1100 fps range. Max load is 8.0 grains. Longshot will achieve pretty much the highest velocity out of the .40 with the lowest pressure but, I warn you, its a snappy powder.
