I'm looking all over the place to find ammo in 308W for an M14 say 150-168grs. and the most I can find is in the 180 grs which I dont want. Even the 7.62-51 is out of stock everywhere. Is it the time of year or has everyone cut back on inventories? The most I could find was at CDN. tire and they looked like they had been around for a long time (dusty boxes and worn cardboard) Jeez Louise have the Feds passed a new bill or something?

just got 1,000 rounds of Norinco (Norinco New Production 7.62X51, 150gr FMJBT ammo) from Henry at budget shooters supply (site sponsor, click logo above) for $600. I am ok for a while at least . . . .

Just about all the 7.62x51 NATO surlpus has been shot, sold or destroyed by now. That said, there seems to be quite a bit of cheap Norinco 7.62x51 on the market at the moment. Haven't seen prices this low in at least 5 years. That said, why not reload? There's still plenty of brass around.

Ya well, I looked at Can Am ammo, good stuff if you want to go to War or something. Dont need 900+ rounds. My question was based more on hunting and precision rounds, not what they offer at the present time. Maybe someone has more info on that.:ar15:

Wow.. picky, picky, picky. If you want cheap ammo, get surplus in bulk. Otherwise, get used to bending over. Commercial ammo's not gonna get any cheaper.

How many rounds do you shoot every time you take your rifle out? If you're shooting 50 rounds a session (reasonable number), all 900 rds would be gone in 18 trips (maybe 2-years at the most). You're not exactly warehousing when you buy 900 rds.

There's no shortage of 308 win hunting ammo in canada. Kick your favorite ammo store's manager in the ass and get the shelves restocked. LOTS of inventory at the large canadian sporting goods wholesalers.

Federal Blue Box 150g is still $20.00 / box.

In my opinion the best thing to do is stockpile the #### out of bulk .308 150g bullets. I have thousands upon thousands of bullets and primers.

I buy factory ammo to sight in my scope and I plan to use it for hunting. Once my brass stockpile gets up there, I'm going to go full retard on reloading. The thing to remember with handloading, it's a real pain to do a few rounds every time you want to go shooting. It's best to do things in big batches. Decapping and resizing 300 casings is not a big job, but it turns into one if you have to trim them all. If you do one step at a time, in a week or two you can have hundreds of rounds ready to rock.

What sort of battle rifle nut are you, if no one sells it then make it. What happens when the zombies come for you, are you going to tell them to wait while your local store gets some stock.

You need a reloading press or 2 or you #### will fall off, and please dont tell me you only have 1 305

Well for hunting, their are a lot of option for .308 hunting rounds out their. Walmart, Canadian Tire, all have a somewhat decent selection where Im from. Federal, Winchester and Remington are common brands.

As for precision, Wolverine has Federal Match ammo, $40 for 20 or $330 for 200.

Or if your really pickey, start reloading. Choose your bullet, brass, primer, powder and tailor each load to you specific rifle. Best results you can get. It just takes a initial investment for the equipment and of course the time to build a load.

If your looking for cheap ammo, all your gonna find in Military ball or FMJ target ammo. And even then its not really "cheap" and not all that common. You can't hunt with it and accuracy is not what most would call precision grade.
