Bucket lists

Hey fellas, this is a most incredible thread and the pictures are outstanding.
However, I and I'm sure everyone reading this thread would love to know what you gentlemen used for rifles and and also loads, bullets, weights, etc.
This sort of information is priceless as are all of your current posts.

I was shooting a 270WSM with 130 grain GMX.

A polar bear with a bow? Considering how dangerous those things are reputed to be, that idea hadn't even crossed my mind. No doubt it was a memorable hunt!

Good point Kevan, never even considered that prior. Won't list loads because I'm not interested in contaminating this thread with whether or not my loads are safe or crazy. I do wring the most out of every caliber I shoot and I usually only get 3-4 loadings from a case. I have even hunted Africa with cases that I locktited the primers in.(am I the only one who does this)
Cartridge, bullet even velocity (I'll be called a liar) no problem, will do in the future postings.

Just a tad off point but does anyone else believe that there might be an incredible market in 1, 2, 3 and maybe even 5 thou over primers, like main bearings in an engine, what do you think? Just pondering out loud.

Some good brass has been lost to loose primer pockets for sure.
Maybe a sharp center punch and tap tap tap around the primer pocket bore? :)
Then again, a few lost brass surely can't be worth the effort?
Not for me anyways.

I'd be interested in the calibers, etc... for each animal.

As for those that may feel the need to raise questions about your loads, I think the proof of what they are capable of is clearly shown in the previous posts :D

.375 perfect lion repellant 270 TSX? Whats ya gonna use for eles?
Zambia lion expensive especially if, like me, you don't even see one in 16 days. Big PI$$ OFF, Big dollars. Zim cheaper but almost no manes. I might try Tanz next time dunno.

Zim most definitely has manes, though I'll concede I was hunting on a privately owned conservancy last year, not on ill-managed government concessions. During a 15 day hunt on the Bubye Valley Conservancy, during which lion were not on the menu and were not being deliberately sought out, I still managed to run into two great males with plenty of hair. A-Zone was on the same hunt, and ran into more than one as well. Would definitely recommend considering that place if lion is on the top of your list. Already have a return visit booked for next year for lioness & buff...

I do apologize as I really wasn't very clear.
I didn't want to know the specific powder charge, but more what make of bullet, chambering, rifle, etc., and I guess were you satisfied with the choices or would you try or do something different.
Do you think all my nosey questions would be better dealt with in another thread perhaps ?
I'm tossing around the idea of having a lightweight rifle built and by learning of the experienced fellows thoughts it will give me a far better insight into what might work well for me.

Vaal Rhebok

That, my friend, is one hell of a fine vaal rhebok!!![/QUOTE

Yes the Gods smiled upon me that day, he's 9" and I missed him twice, standing still at less than 200 mtrs, before I actually hit him. The wind was just howling at about 40 kts and I'll be damned if I could git a decent hold on him. Finally I did manage to hit him in the hurricane and come home with an unbelievable Vaalie. Don't know why he didn't vacate the county after the first 2 shots but anyway Thank You God he didn't and I was able to make a 150 mtr loping shot.
Mosy people wouldn't even What he is, let alone how outstanding he is.

Thanks for the comment.

Negative on that I think the addition of a discussion of suitable rifles and calibers would be a welcome addition from all the tedium of my photos.

I built a super light weight 300 WSM on a 700 Ti action with a Brown 14 oz stock and a Pacific Tool & Guage speed lock with the alum bolt shroud, added a 3-9 leupold compact and with sling and shells she weighs in at 6 lbs. Seriously considering a titanium barrel and knocking another pound off.
