I have hard time deciding between two lower receivers..

one is "Cadex" CDX-15 from One Shot Tactical

the other is "Socom Firearms Corporation" lower from socomsupply.ca

both receivers around $450-500, made from 7075 aluminum, have flared magwells, hard anodized and machined with close tolerances, also both have integrated trigger guard and front ribs...
Does anyone have any experience with these? Which would you consider better and why..?

Stripped lowers for $450-$500? Ouch! If I were you I'd spend the extra money on the upper receiver where it counts most. Though, I can't blame you for wanting one. They're very pleasing to the eye.

I'm putting together a nice Vltor upper as well.. :)

Anyone else has any suggestions? keep in mind both receivers are available for purchase...

Or for $179 you can get a NEA Billet stripped lower..

In fact for a complete lower with parts kit and stock installed is still under $400

This or Spikes or Aero etc etc.

Since you can make a functional lower out of wood FFS, the desire for some to spend money on a CADEX or ATRS billet lower that serves absolutely no greater function in your AR than a less expensive, not billet lower is beyond me.

But if you are for some reason determined it has to be billet, then NEA is the smart consumers way to go.

Hm.. Now I'm confused. So SOCOM is remarked first generation CADEX, and CDX-15 is 2nd generation... ? Was there anything special about socom lowers? Will they hold value better since its not produced any more and hard to find..?

The Socom is made by Cadex, since last year they sale lower with there own name, they made many parts like the Remington stock

I go 2 or 3 time on Cadex 2 years ago, 45 mns from Montreal, I check for sale there product but when I talk with the "Military sales manager" and he ask what is the AR15 caliber and how spell Ruger I think they have a problem and I stop lost my time.

I don't say they don't have good product, but can be nice take someone know something about firearms for sales.

It's hobby not an investment, there is no such thing as "better resale" value, they only reason something used cost more is because they start off costing more.

SOCOM lowers are made by contract, I heard at least 3 different companie names mentioned when it comes to SOCOM lowers, i have even seen a LMT lower with a SOCOM logo.

If you are sticking to Canadian made lower than CADEX and ATRS are pretty good but pricy, DLASK and NEA just as good quality, throw in a good DD lower parts kits the price will be just about even.

Ok so im leaning towards Cadex.. Any more thoughts.. ?

I didn't realize the SOCOM lowers were 1st gen Cadex lowers - but looking at the trigger guards that tracks. So yes, my recommendation would definitely by the Cadex CDX-15. Fit/finish on my SOCOM is excellent and I can't imagine this would be any different on the CDX-15.

I've heard good things about Spike's Tactical and Aero Precision as well.

I've seen an AR10 SOCOM lower that was an Eagle Arms by Armalite with the SOCOM logo on the right side of the magwell. I'm guessing it was 5 years old?

I kind of like the SOCOM logo. :p
