Damn it, I want a suppressor!!!

Other then noise what is there any advantage to sub sonic rounds? Im thinking it may benifit M&P in close quarter sitiuations vs a full load?? Why would a guy want a 300 black out vs a .308??

Cheers!!

The primary advantage to subsonic is greatly reduced noise. There are lots of disadvantages to go along with it. Subsonics penetrate to a huge degree and would not be suitable for home defence as a result.

300 Whisper/Blackout is superior to a subsonic 308 because it will cycle an AR action where the bigger case won't. Subsonic 300 Whisper is at its best in short barreled carbines and PDWs because it does not lose velocity like conventional cartridges and it does not produce a massive blast and fireball.

And yes, you are permitted to use it on properly designated ranges. I do know this for fact. You should look into it.

I have.

If you want to provide me with some hard facts I'd be very happy, but I can't go back to the CFO and say that the guy on the internet said I could use the suppressors. ;)

Read your dealer manual and show me where it says you can't use prohibited devices in the course of doing business activities. I had the same dealer license as you do close to 10 years ago. I do not recall any regulation or directive stating that you cannot use supressors.

If it's not in your manual, then your CFO is talking out of his ass.

Yeah...no...Can you honestly see the feds going 180 deg. in the opposite direction of where their stance is now? Not gonna happen. Even if they were legalized you're not going to see situations where the provinces would allow them for hunting use in a game habitat. If anything, spressors would be restricted to range use only.

I see the government make 180 turns on previous decisions all the time..it's what they do best.

You're taking my comment out of context. My comment was in respect to Kevin M. assertion that if we argued for the use of suppressors the government would "see the light" and not only reverse the law against them but make them mandatory for everyone to use. He was concerned that he'd be forced to have to use one and warned us to be careful what we wished for. I think he's got nothing to worry about.

That's why I said that they weren't going to go 180 dregrees in the opposite direction. Governments flip flop on issues all the time as you said. There are few instances in the history of this country where this could be said in regards to matters concerning firearms where our restrictions to ownership were loosend.

I was reading on here earlier where a gun range put on a open house of some type where people got to come and try out a assorted type of firearms. If we really want to get people not to be afraid of suppresors and ar's or any type of restricted or prohibited firearm, we got to get them comfortable with the ones we can use. If we can get firearm owner numbers to increase greatly the government will have no choice but to listen to us. But without the numbers the government most likely isn't going to change anything.

I wonder if we could find some sort of loophole so we can use them lol. We found one for using 10 rounders in ARs so maybe theres something we could do about it lol

A class action law suit on the basis of government denial to personal safety equippment that effects a person's health & safety is probably the easiest way to get the government's and media's attention.

If there was a hot shot civil rights lawyer who wanted to make a name for himself, this could be a case that propels their career if successful.

The problem with the law as written is that it is extremely vague. There is not even a reference to the device having to be attached to a firearm. Thus anything that is intended to reduce the noise of a shot could be classed as a prohibited device. That conceivably includes shooting range baffles, subsonic ammunition etc.

I had an idea that would not require the can to be attached to the firearm but even that won't fly as the law is written. The only potential loophole that I can see in the law is to use a device to convert the noise to ultrasonic so it cannot be heard by human ears. A sound meter would show the sound was still there just not at an audible frequency. However that is a fairly long stretch at best.

Speaking of silencers..Kevin Brittingham founder and CEO of Advanced Armament Corporation (AAC) was escorted off the property recently. he sold the company to Freedom Group..apparently he pissed them off.

I dealt with him and Robert Silvers on arfcom.
Kevin is a class A a**hole..Robert is just a weird individual..

Really? Didn't follow his exploits on ARFCOM. Care to elaborate on Brittingham?

Just an absolute a-hole. Bashed anyone who said anything good about other silencers, ignored the mods on the site when they asked him to stop...he created a lot of grief for us..

Knowing the other KevinB personnaly, he is a good guy in person, but his initial enterance onto the internet world via ARF.com was deffinitely rough, and not a great example.

Best thing ever to happen to the US silencer industry IMO.

The really strange thing was Brittingham was super nice in person and a complete prick on the Internet. One day he is buying me lunch and the next day accusing me of industrial espionage. :0

Speaking of strange. Wait till you meet Robert Silvers in person. Seriously odd dude. Smart in an evil mastermind kind of way.He would barely talk to you till he had met you a couple of times.

I did meet him at SHOT in Orlando..right after the bunch of them got turfed off arfcom. He saw my shot badge (which had my screen name on it as well as my real name) and he disappeared from their booth. He definitely looked like the mad scientist type though.
Kevin..I'll take your word for that but if you had dealt with him like I / we did..you'd think other wise.
