I'd really like to try some other brakes on my XCR. The stock one is probably great... buy I'm a guy so... :)

I know theres a pin welded in place that has to come out. Problem is, I dont have much in the way of tools any more due to being a condo dweller. Is there any way I'm going to get it off with just a Dremel? Or will I pour so much time and swearing into it that I should just give Dlask or someone a call?

Thanks!

If you knew exactly where the pin is, you could grind off the weld. The pin is still there. It would likely have to be drilled . Or the remains of the brake cut down almost to the threads.

So it's a little more than just blasting the top of the weld off with a cutting disk?

Not that I don't believe you, just want to know more. :)

Maybe...

You sounded unsure as to weather you had the equipment/knowledge to do so, and in such a case, I always suggest you seek out someone who does.

Also, I'll add that when I was removing the flash hider from my AR, I needed to make a barrel vice for it (the FH was on really tight, lol).

I removed the brake on my XCR with a dremel. It worked ok but if you ever plan on re-using the brake I would suggest getting a gunsmith or machinist to remove the weld with a milling machine. It will look a lot cleaner :)
