hey everyone, this is the barrel from my NEW norinco 1911 .45. iv shot somewhere between 500-800 rounds thru it total. on the 5th mag at the range the other night it stoped working, wouldnt eject the casing and wouldnt slide. has this happened to anyone else? i keep the gun very well oiled and it gets fully cleaned after every trip to the range.

have a look.

thanks!

already on it. i sent them a picture and they emaild me postage within a day to send them the barrel back, and are replacing it.

Send the bbl back:confused: 1911 bbls need to be fitted. Send the entire gun back.

Who is the vendor?

i dont know anything about shipping an entire gun? is it complacated? ill look it up..

Nothing to it. Phone your CFO and get a STATT to go to the post office. Pack up securely, ship to CandaAmmo by Canada Post Ground , signature on receipt, add insurance per your discretion.

In this case, I would demand that CA replace the entire gun. If they replace the bbl only I would ask to have the warentee extended. This is all a burden to you as it is going to take at least a month or more to get a replacement back in your hands.

I am in the process of replacing the barrel on my 1911,not because the link broke but because the old barrel was shot out and the cases were bulging. The barrel has to be fitted to the frame to assure proper feeding, as it is the bullets are jamming on the edge of the new barrel and some metal has to be removed from the bottom of it to make it work. I have taken some metal off and it is starting to feed but more work is needed to make it reliable. I had to take a few thou. off here and there just to get the barrel to fit into the slide.
In the OP's case the proper length link should work as the barrel is already fitted to the frame.
Let us know how it works out.

thanks for all your help guys, iv sent an email to canadaammo to see if they can warrenty the whole gun and ship me a new one. as it is still very new. so im now waiting for a response. if not then ill definatly send the whole slide assembly.

i know they still have my gun in stock on their website ".45 Norinco 1991 police model -blued" so im sure they just want to send me a barrel out of one of those. but that would not work?

Faulty link - it happens. There's nothing wrong with the barrel fitting, you'd see it in the leading/trailing edges of the lugs - if the barrel link was too long it would leave the pin hole slightly oval, and there'd be wear (deep wear) on the slide release, the exact width of the link. I'm assuming there isn't. That leaves a bad link. Links come in about 4 lengths, no big deal, but putting one in can be a PITA. Sometimes a broken part is just a broken part. Match barrels need to be fitted, factory stock barrels are only semi-fitted - otherwise they wouldn't sell oversized match barrels for up to 3 times the price.

IMO, the gun is new and under warranty. If it were mine, I'd send the complete gun to be repaired by the dealer, or (my preference) replace the whole gun. Ask CanadaAmmo if they'll pay for shipping both ways.
