Ok, before I get flamed here. Looking at the pics of the failure, the "barrel" portion of the fake roni looks intact. And it appears to be the outer shell that has broken with the brass screw insert in it. Could this have been caused by over tightening while assembling the kit? I'm having trouble seeing how the muzzle blast would have caused this if the tube under the broken part is still intact. I am not saying using these kits is a smart idea just looking at the pics of what happened to the OP.

You should actually get yourself a Roni in your hands so you understand how it is built and also how you assemble it!

There's actually no screw that goes there, near that part... Only a push pin that goes through the frame in the front and in the back...

The side screws for the picatinny rails are free floating on the side of the shell, so they were not interfering with the part that blew up...

I'm pretty sure that the gas from the muzzle flash escaped from the port and create enough pressure on the sides, so it exploded!

.... if you guys had actually had bothered to read the original thread, they purchased the airsoft copy and discovered that the 'airsoft' ones were in fact true EMA manufactured kits and were in fact designed for real firearm use.

Dunno why, either the retailer screwed up or the the theory that CAA is trying to get rid of the EMA branded kits be selling them as airsoft ones is true, but that obviously isn't going to hold true for all the kits they have now is it? ;)
 
Nay,nay.....they were selling off what were thought to be old stock EMA Roni's....and they were, I've got one!! Somehow the black ones weren't RONI'S!!! Tan ones were. Read the original thread before you flame!! ZReturns is the first to warn folks as allot bought them rolling the dice......crap shoot unfortunately

Exactly! ;)

I think the only "original" ones that went through his supplier were the "tan" Ronis.

The black version is obviously airsoft copies and should be treated only for airsoft purposes not firearms applications.

I read the thread. I was an active poster in the thread. I was intrigued until the validity of these was called into question.

Yes, seems like they were designed for real firearms use indeed......

I have one, mine works fine, mine is authentic (Questar) and IS Made for centre fire. It was also not $100 from an airsoft supplier.

Between me and Blaxsun we repeatedly warned of using these (unknown polymers, etc) and were pretty vocal about it. As you say, read the thread.

Are some real at that price? Doubt it, and I would not dream of taking the chance.

It's not surprising at all. I tried warning everyone that these kits were inherently dangerous due to the inferior polymer. They were not designed for real firearms. But people just had to try and save a few bucks...

Thanks for posting - glad to hear you're ok. Really glad to hear you're ok. Expected these kits to fail (just not necessarily this spectacularly)...
 
Glad the OP is ok and all, but nobody's asked the REALLY important question... were any Glocks hurt during this misadventure?!? Hope the one involved in the malfunction survived unscathed!!
