I love these things, the one on top is a 14.5" with Troy TRX rail, assorted Magpul stuff and Aimpoint PRO. The bottom gun is a 7.5" with Troy TRX and Eotech XPS 2.2. I will most likely change the stock and the grip on the shortie.
Any advice which one will be better for CQB?

One thing I like about this photo is that you get a sense of the relative sizes of two carbines.

To get a 7.5" barrel, you give up a huge amount ballistically speaking.

Note that the 7.5 is shorter, but is it really THAT MUCH shorter? Not really. And then it's got a massive muzzle device hanging out there which puts a bit of weight on the end anyway...

The 7.5 will swing faster and go in tighter spots, I guess...but man, you sure give up a lot for a very small handling advantage IMO.

Imagine, also, that the length of the rifle is added to the depth of you and your shoulder. So yes, the shorty is cool...but honestly is there much of an advantage to a 7.5? I would say no.

So technically, I guess you could argue that the 7.5 is the better cqb gun...in reality I don't think there is much of an advantage. I would be perfectly happy with the 14.5 and it is so much more useful generally speaking that if I could take one or the other...I'd probably go with the 14.5.

misanthropist makes a good point - I believe the 14.5" is a better "do-all" size - can be used for CQB as well as SR & probably even DR -

But since the OP has both already - I would use the 7.5" for CQB & the 14.5" for SR - that way you get to enjoy BOTH of them :)
