I have a Remington 597 That I just picked up with an extended 30 round mag. The problem is when the 30 round mag is full it doesn't feed properly. It jams and it appears that the bolt is hitting the side of the cartridges as they are dented in when removed. (should have taken a pic). It appears to work fine with about 20 rounds in it not sure if anybody has seen this or has any possible fix ideas.

Personally, I can only load 25 rounds in both of mine to expect any amount of reliabillity. I have heard similar stories from others but without another source for 30 round mags for the 597 we're kind of stuck with the sub-par Remington offering.

Even my 10 round only holds 9...f:P:

Really my only complaint about the rifle though.

hmm works with 20, but not with 30? Don't put 30 in it.

Try a few different types of ammo. My 30 rounders hate cci stinger but function fine with other types.

I pulled all mine apart and stretched the spring a little. solved some problems.
edit : i load all mine to 25, make sure you buy the clear ones, load 25 and then mark off where 25 is, then you don't have to count rounds every single stinking time.

Where were you last year when I bought the opaque and black ones? :p

I only use 22 in mine or they will jam up also. Lets face it the mag's are crap but at 16$ who cares!

I have 2 30 rounders and have never had a problem with them feeding when full. I get the occassional problem getting 10 rounds into the factory mag, but this issue is resolved if I take it apart and clean it up.

You can get 32 rnds in if you have strong fingers, I have 4 mags all were a little troublesome until I stripped and cleaned them then reassembled with some dry graphite lube now they're fine.

You haven't mentioned the manufacturer (I'll assume it's Remington?) clean and lube the mag and a LIGHT sanding of the edges of the follower might be a huge help. Failing that, you might want to try a "hot lips" 30 round mag.

I did this to mine as well. They were both tight going into the mag well so I used the Dremel with a sanding disk and hit all the edges that make contact in the well until the mags would fall out while empty when released.
