LAR-15 couplers

IMO
For .223....... mag chrarger and stripper clips is the way to go,faster than LULA and one push=10rds.
Another plus cheap and readilly avail. LULA is great for pistol size rounds though

I like the look of a big badass mag.

Those plastic couplers are damn cheap though, and I broke 2 pieces just installing 3 couplers.

Kinda junk to me. I though the new ones were metal. I just ordered those and got flimsy plastic....

Oh well, I might keep the couplers for the look, or maybe not. I'll see.

The couplers you ordered were polymer and clearly described as such...

Magazine Coupler allows two LAR-15 10-Round 'Pistol' Magazines to be joined together and give same curve and length as a standard 30 round AR magazine (fit's standard AR mag pouches). Made of high strength polymer.
~ Does not include magazines ~

True.

Just a bit sad they broke so easily pushing them in. Oh well anyway.... minor issue I guess. I like the mags.

Im not here to start a war.... just stating they are a bit brittle.

Not to dredge up old ####, but I recently purchased a few polymer couplers and me no likey. They seem sufficiently strong enough to hold the two mags together but they have no screw like the metal ones to prevent the mags from sliding off . . . . unless I am missing a critical step in the assembly . . .

I think one of the problems with couplers, is that you can't really use the mag as a monopod when you go prone.

Also it seems a little weird to use them for action shooting, since when reloading you'd have to take it out, flip it over and insert... it seems to me, that it'd be easier (and faster) to just drop the mag and insert a new one, unless some one can post a video doing it quickly and efficiently

Longer mags are easier to grab from pouch and easier to handle.

If there were a way to lengthen the LAR10s or have 10/30s instead of their shorter present version I would not couple them. I would do it as you suggested. The 5/30 Pmags are a pleasure to handle, but they are only 5.

In my next try at a competition I'm going to try going to 5/30s coupled side by side. Switching side by side mags is much faster and easier than flipping.

Again, if LAR-15s came in longer mags like 10/30s then it would be ace to have them in side-by-side couplers. You can certainly use them in existing side-by-side couplers but then you are wasting half of their capacity since the down side isn't available.

i believe the solution is the baseplate extension like on my 10 rd s&w m&p40 mags.or like you said just make them 10/30 rounders to start would look best.

whats yer thoughts on this quick sketch i just did feel free to take the idea as i have no intention of producing it.

I don't see why that wouldn't work functionally. I think we had a discussion in another thread about the different couplers for regular. They all have the same principle but differ in terms of elegance.

A different solution is some kind of extender that can use the existing LAR couplers that is the size of a half mag like a 5/rounder. That's just enough extra gripping space needed to protrude from the end of the magwell and fit the normal STANAG side-by-side couplers.

Don't really see the point of mag couplers, unless your hell-bent on recreating your favourite COD fire fights.

hahaha.

dj. I figured you would be all over mag couplers.

bravo.

the side by side mag couplers, no, I see no real point as well

the top/bottom lar mags- yes. they make manipulation of the mags easier.

the only thing I dislike is that it seems very easy to damage mag lips with one hanging upside down?

I'd rather just have an extension.

CanadaAmmo has the metal couplers at the great price of $10.00 The equivalent coupler ptoduced by Dlask was $50. I think they sell theirs for $20 now. The plastic Questar couplers are junk and I wouldn't think of using another after my first and last experience with them.

can they make a 10/30 rounder mag specific to a pistol? if so why have they not jumped all over this already? i guess some people don't like the protruding magazine in a pistol. maybe it looks too evil lol.
