Is it ok to put a .455 cylinder back in a webley that has had its original cylinder converted to .45acp on moon clips? Was anything else done to these revolvers? It would be nice to have the option. Also, are cylinders interchangeable from mk to mk? I'm still waiting on my big 80 dollar Webley book.

Most, if not all, of the Webleys converted to take the .45ACP had the rear of the cylinders shaved to allow the use of the half-moon clips. Many revolvers show this as the shaving physically removed part of the serial number found on the cylinder.

However, using an original cylinder should not pose a problem, since, AFAIK, nothing else was done to them to make them shoot the American cartridge.

Apart from the usual bit on gun-fettling that needs to be done to fit a new part to an older gun - preferably by somebody who knows that they are doing.

I think he's talking about putting the .455 CYLINDER back in.
I think his biggest problem would be finding a .455 cylinder. mytwocents

oops, you caught it. good

I have an extra one, doesn't everyone:p(before someone asks I am not selling it) They are around, if you look long enough :). With regard to the OP's question MKI and MKII cylinders are completely interchangeable, MKIII or newer are not interchangeable with the first 2 generations.

Well i noticed that the bushing on a mKI is diffrent to a mKII as i have a MKII barrel and cylinder set up in 45 Acp that barrel and cylinder fit right into a mKII but not a MKI so something is diffrent.
Im thinking of selling my MKII barrel and cylinder but only to a person who wants it for a MKII
Im not sure if the inside of the mKI and MKII cylinder are the exact same.
They are very hard to find in 455.
If the only reason you want the 455 cylinder is to shoot normal reloadable cases and not use moon clips then buy some 45 Ar cases they have a supper thick rim.
That will save a $300 or more trying to find a 455 cylinder for your gun. ;)

Great guys, I hadnt thought about .45ar. Was just hinking it would be nice to reload just on e caliber for my mk VI and a converted mk1
