Hi, although i don't know much about the M91 - Westinghouse Mosin Nagant. It seems like an interesting rifle.

Anybody have any luck finding these here in canada? They're american made so i can't imagine a flood of westinghouse mosins coming into the canadian market...

I have one that has Finnish ( Rectangle SA) military stamp on it as well as the jointed stock. I'm sure it has an interesting story to tell. It's only the second one I ever came across but I am sure there are a few floating around. The other one had no Finnish markings.

The Remington and NEW M91s made for Russia were not delivered after the Bolshevik Revolution. They were retained in the US, used for training. Some went to Russia after the First War, during the Civil War. Ones left in the US were sold off through the NRA in the '20s.

I've been looking for a Westinghouse for some time now. I did find a Remington M-91 with German and Finn marks recently. An interesting fact about the New England Westinghouse Mosins is that they all are dated the same year, 1915. They were made up till 1918. Remingtons have the actual year they were made stamped on them.

I was on extra duties back in 79 in Shilo, MB. and was given the glorious task of re-painting one of the 25 pound artillery pieces that was used in parades and such. I noticed a square bulge under 15 layers of paint (Sergeant Major wasn't too creative in new punishments) and decided to find out what it was. It was a brass plate attached to the slide of the gun. It was a brass manufacturing plate from the Otis Elevator company. I showed it to my NCO and he said "Great, polish it".

"Century imported some 91s , of all manufacturers in their day."

- Yes, but that was 20 years ago.

- Century/International Firearms Ltd moved to the USA aoround 1990, all they have in Canada now is a small call-center for US Customers with no inventory.
