Ok so been doing some thinking amd im not trying to be a gear snob, as i do own a bunch of AR15,s norks, bushys CADEX my own built guns.

But being that we can only use them at the range, why are so many people wanting the cheapest made AR15 on the market and not looking to buy somthing quality product ??

Its not like im rolling in it, i just figgered with as little use we as canadians get out of our AR,s that people would be more inclined to buy quality then crap.

what say you...

That implies that the new cheap AR's are crap which amounts to the following brands I'm assuming?

Core15, NEA, Norc....

Having not handled all 3 I can't say but I haven't heard that these new affordable range AR's are crap by any means. Even the cheapest Norc AR's seem to run well for the most part.

Simple explenation: most shooters are not very good shooters and don't shoot enough to justify buying a quality firearms.
This is true for 22lr rifles, pistols, revolvers, bolt action rifles, shotguns and AR15s.
The same can be said for cars: most drivers simply need to get from A to B and don't need a high performance car, so any minivan is good enough for them.

No not all of the cheaper guns are crap.

Champaign tastes with beer budgets. People no longer care for quality product, as long a it looks the part and it's flashy people are happy paying good money for sub-par goods. Not just ars, it's in all aspects off life, knock off purses, clothing, cars that look expensive and are poorly made. It's about image these days

but restricted firearms are not a get from A-B product they are about fun and for many off us some form of action shooting and or training.
Why not have 3-4 good range only guns and not 10-15 cheap ones??

Why would range use only require a higher quality gun?

If you ask me the fact that most guys just punch holes in paper from the bench means quality isn't much of a factor.

Besides, once you add up all the costs shooting is expensive enough as it is, a guy can buy a lot of ammo for the difference in cost between a Noveske and a Norinco.

I agree with this but would add it may be economic related more lately.

Personally I would sooner do without than buy cheap brand whatever___________. I like high end stuff and work hard to achive it...there i said it

That being said I totally get why people buy cheaper, they may be finacially limited and that is the best they can afford--at least they want to play our game.
We all probably have learned the " you get what you pay for lesson " and I got stung every time I cheaped out. Not saying there are not some really affordable great bang for buck deals out there but....

This is a question I continue to ask. Why do we se rails from UTG and NcStar and not from KAC, Daniel Defense, etc.

Quality is only what the person wants if they get what they want for 700 bucks for a norinco or 2000 grand for a colt does it matter. As long as that person finds that they a good quality product for what they paid and what they wanted is all that matters. In my place a norinco will probley be my first AR or if i get a good job after i am done with my welding course in school i might be looking into getting a acr with a none restricted barrel so i could use for more then just at the range.

If the cheaper guns get more guys to own AR's then all the better for us. It will be great when we can once again hunt in our own country with the AR which is the new classic hunting rifle. We should all be hunting with our AR's within the next two years unless gun owners have gotten lazy and complacent thinking the removal of the LGR is THE big savior. It is only the first tiny step in many more yet to come.

For me, our two Norc M4 rifles are good value for the money. We have not had any issues with either of them. Yes, there are rifles with much nicer finishes, fit & finish... But the price point of the Norc M4 is damn hard to beat!

The only thing I need now is some decent optics on them! Those Elcan SpecterDR scopes sure look NICE!

Cheers
Jay

Although i agree, there is one problem with the cheaper AR crowd or black rifle community attracting lower income people into the sport, and that is what kind of people are we bringing into the sport that could prove to be more of a liability to us. I have noticed sometimes the types or personality you don't want into the AR(pistol) or firearm world are immediately turned of by the price & time, this actually is a deterrent against the retard class of people.

Someone who is spending more money on certain types of AR or black-rifle is far less likely to commit a crime with them. Who would spend all that money and go on a rampage so to speak? When there is a shooting or someone does go nuts i prefer it to be a non-restricted cheap old school firearm then a tricked out AR. Obviously i don't want this to ever happen, but the Anti-gun wackos would have a field day with this.

Because they can only be used at the range?

If you could actually hunt with them, perhaps people would put more into them. It's not like they have to hold up to a lot of abuse at the range.

Besides, why shell out thousands of dollars for something that's going to be prohibited in 10 years? :stirthepot2:

I've owned Stags, Armalites, Bushmasters, PWS and Norinco AR15s. While the PWS is the one I have kept (I am a firm believer in the long stroke piston design), the Norinco was the most accurate of them all. Never had a failure with it. It's only downfall was the crappy finish, but it wasn't the reason I sold it. I've been eyeing another Norinco lately.

But why do people have multiple rifles then stick crap like NcStar and UTG on them and knock off chicom and airsoft parts. There seems to be a far greater quantity than quality mentality in the Canadian black rifle community. Why is this???
