scope poi?

Bought a vortex scope for my 30-06, was shooting at 25 yds to get it rough sighted.

I had to use dual extension high rings to get clearance for the scope to fit and at 25 yds can not get the scope to adjust to point of aim, it is a inch and a half low.

First time using high rings, will the poi straighten out at longer range?

You've got an alignment issue that must be addressed. Diagnoseing it from afar is difficult, but high rings in and of themselves aren't the problem.

next time i take it out will try it at 100, see if the 2.5''-3'' is just to much to make up in 25 yds

It has been boresighted, with the bushnell boresighter. shows fine on it.

Yes, but run the reticle to the end of it's travel. This may show that you have plenty of travel to compensate or are just barely able to boresight.

It will go down further than the reticle on the boresighter, but when the bullets put to the paper the best i can get is within a inch and a half at 25 yards

What height are the rings? What is the distance from the middle of the scope to the bore?

You still might be fine. The scope is already 1.5"-2" above the bore, the closer the target is to the muzzle the more this is an issue. Though usually the POA/POI is closer at 25yds.

If the crosshairs are 2.5" to 3" above the bore, and you are only 1.5" low at 25 yards, you really need to try it at longer distances.

Thats what i was thinking, have the day off tomorrow so plan on setting up at 100 to see where it's at, just never had rings high enough to make that big a difference.

I would try it at 50. You should see the group tighten as the bullet rises to meet POA then you will be hitting high after it crosses the POA at 100 ect. 25 might be to close to get the POI to match POA. Maybe the bore sighter is buggered ?

Make sure the front scope bell or covers are not touching the rings, base or barrel.

Plenty of room there, had to go with high dual offsets due to short tube length on the scope, and the variable adjustment ring would hit the bases with medium offsets.
