First 22lr?

I'm a Remington fan myself, my 597 was pretty accurate right out of the box and just got better. You might also want to have a look at their VersaMax 12 ga. instead of the SuperNova

Had a Marlin 60 (17 rnd tube capacity w/ no last shot open bolt) purchased on the EE years ago. Accurate and served me well. Also got a 10/22 from a local retail store a decade ago. Both are gone so which one did I miss? The Marlin 60, cause it didn't need a thing to make it accurate out of the box. Just couldn't get the Ruger to step up to the plate (in stock form, at least).
That being said, recently decided to get a Henry Lever action instead (near zero FTE's on various ammo compared to semi's in general). While at the store, (Whls) was about ready to purchase another Marlin 60 and handled model 60SN. Would have taken her home too but this particular one was defective (Ammo tube would not open). Nevertheless, was pleased that even the newer made models (currently 15 rnd capacity) still retain that sweet trigger plus it now has the last shot open bolt. Result of this tale - am currently on wait list for a 60SS (stainless steel w/ a good looking laminated two-tone stock.

I picked one up 4 weeks ago and so far I'm pretty pleased with it. My only complaint so far would be that the scope mounting grooves are a little short due to the rounded back end of the receiver. This can cause a few issues with the eye relief of some scopes.

Other than that it's accurate, reliable and ###y looking.

.....................have hated tube mags.............................For plinking/target (and hunting)....................box mags rule the day for me.

2 decades ago, felt exactly the same way about tube mags. Solution - a tube speed loader. 120 rnd/loader giving 8 - 15 rnd refills extremely fast (5 secs max). Got 2 making range visits pleasurable and not time consuming reloading the tube with individual rnds.

4 weeks ago???? You bugger! Ya got the last one in Canada.
Had an older 60 and those grooves can be tricky if one is not carefull. That being said, I now shoot my .22LR rifles with open sights. Its the only way to practise the failing eyesight and not get spoiled with optics (thats a luxury I save my larger calibers - ammo is way more pricey)!!!!
We all know they're reliable and accurate, but ###y? Well, the 60SS certainly is, and, since there were funds left over from my lever gun purchase, decided to spend the extra and get a replacement 60 to enjoy shooting and looking at for many years to come
BTW, great pic, and thanks for reminding what I missed!!! Laugh2

Just Browsing the Marlin website I noticed they had a new model in 2011 the XT-22. Anyone have any experience with this model?

I have an XT-22 and I love the damn thing..its a friggin tac driver. The pro-trigger is awesome and I got mine down to 2lbs 7oz with a clean break.

I dont think you'll be disapointed if you go with the XT

Are the newer M60's made in the the Remington Mayfield, KT plant? If so, how do they compare to the CT made ones?

I would like to know this as well.

So far NO!

The one I bought is from the Marlin plant in North Haven, Connecticut.
