mini 14

hello in thinking about getting this gun for hunting and what not. just woundering if the 223 is to much for rabbits, coons, and beaver? just woundering what the better choice would be for smaller animals as well as bigger animals like deer and hogs.

Ruger Mini 14's are great rifles. I have a 581 series that groups 2 moa out of the box. If you're a fan of the Garand/ M14 style action like I am you'll most likely enjoy owning a Mini. The only negative that I've found is that factory normal cap mags are expensive and hard to find ( you never know, the law may change someday and you'll be able to un pin those mags ). Buy a Mini 14! .223 is a good varmint caliber and they are fun to shoot!

.223 will work great for small pest destruction, but it may not be a good choice nor legal for deer and larger animals.

The Mini 14 is a good rifle: Light, reliable and highly functional.

.223 is no go in Sask for big game. You need a min bullet diameter of .23.

Mini 14 in 6.8 SPC would be a more useful hunting caliber, but a lot more expensive for plinking.

Around 1000, ranch version at a high 800... Cabelas has a 'precision' one for like 1200, but its just a different stock.
