can anyone recomend a good set of shooting sticks for sitting/kneeling/sitting in a low chair. im using those caldwell sticks that are like tent poles but find them flimsy and dont like them very much but i cant seem to find anything better out there.

B O G Pod make both a tripod with three legs and the sticks version. I like the three legs one myself. Prophit River sells them. FS

youtube search shooting sticks. there are many cheap DIY stick ideas there. I made myself the 5 dollar sets. work great until it gets really cold as the rubber rings dont stay tight.

I use the shooter's ridge steady pod. It is not too heavy for carrying and I have shot thousands of gophers and a few dozen big game animals over them. I have the 29"-64" one that allows me to sit on a stool, sit on a small hill, or even stand. When kneeling, I hunker right down and it won't collapse enough for me there, but with these knees, I don't kneel much.:D

Two pieces of doweling from Home Depot can make perfectly functional shooting sticks. Why pay for someone else to do what you can do, and very easily?

This is what I did... Have a few sets at different heights... They work better than most commercial sticks.

BOG pods work great, I have the tripod version and love it

Yup ^^^^ Used them extensively on 3 different trips to Africa, they get my nod. I like to use them differently though, we set it at about 5' high then I like to kneel or sit and use one leg like a tree with thumb and forefinger. Rock solid and the bog pod has many features "a couple of sticks" don't.
Well worth the money IMHO

I have been using the Vanguard Scout B62 and they are working fine for me. Not quite short enough for prone but works great for sitting and standing.
20" at lowest height and you can get 60" with the 3 extensions.

I bought a set of Longgrass Outfitter sticks to take to Africa.

I liked them alot, they break down to go in your gun case, my PH liked them so much more than the home made ones he had I gave them to him.

Google Varmint Al and check out his shootin sticks.
Nothing better than changing a few lil' things on his design and knowing you made them.
But, if you wanna be spendy and buy something that is the latest and greatest, dont bother reading any further on Varmint Al.

I've been using the 27 to 65 inch stoney points for years now. Everything from gophers to deer. Wouldnt leave home with out them, The Bogs look good too.

I used a Primos trigger stick bipod last spring after shoulder surgery, worked great. Bit on the pricey side, the guy i borrowed it from picked it up in N Dakota. Just over 100 bucks in cabela`s for the tall one.
