Reloading equipment from USA

Ok, before I start I did look in the legalese section, checked the stickies in reloading and scrolled through reloading and I couldn't find this question, but it has probably been asked a million times before.

I know you cannot get reloading components (bullets, powder, primers) from the states, but can you get equipment from the states (tumblers, presses, trimmers)? Are they under the $100 export regulation, or is that JUST for gun parts?

Reason i'm asking is i'm heading to great falls on the weekend and if I run across a good price on some stuff I will probably pick it up if I can.
 
I ordered my press, and a couple accessories from a US company, Kept it under 200 CAD (Not including shipping) Customs didn't even look at it came right through.

Most of this stuff is made in the US so Nafta keeps duty from being charged you might have to pay GST when you bring it back Government always needs there share.

Most of my reloading equipment was mail ordered from the USA.

As much as you want as long as it is manual actuated. My last order was over 700 and no problem. Paid the taxes and that was it. Had a friend that had a hydraulic mec press sent back to supplier however and if you read the fine print it states manual only for export.
 
There are no practical legal restrictions on the export of reloading tools from the US. You'll still run into some companies like Midway who won't sell or ship to us up north but that is their company policy and not a legal restriction.

Ya thats what always confused me, if they are unrestricted then why restrict a fair sized market from ordering products from your company.
 
Midway sells some items that are restricted. The story goes they got into trouble over something and said it's easier to send nothing than to send the wrong thing again. Again internet folklore...
 
There are a few companies that got nailed over the ITAR stuff and it spooked a few more into stopping Cdn shipments altogether. And now the US is apparently doing something on "military" cartridge shipments in the way of requiring permits, that is holding up shipments to Canada. Which has apparently somehow spilled into cartridges that were military and not current use as well.
Have to find out more about it, but it apparently affects 6.5x55, 7x57, 8x57, 303 and etc.

Midway was fined over $330k (plus their own legal costs) for exporting about 270 rifle scopes. Plus they have the US Department of State auditing them. So they simply decided its not worth the risk to continue exporting. You need several million in sales to make up profit lost on $500k plus in losses (fine+legal costs+audit)
