Bump Fire Stock

Please post the source of their prohibition.

Not sure if the RCMP has officially taken a stance on the matter, but they would likely prohibit it due to the following:

PROHIBITED DEVICES

Former Prohibited Weapons Order, No. 9

1. Any electrical or mechanical device that is designed or adapted to operate the trigger mechanism of a semi-automatic firearm for the purpose of causing the firearm to discharge cartridges in rapid succession.

operate the trigger mechanism

This is exactly the reason it should NOT be prohibited - it in NO WAY operates the trigger mechanism. To the best of my knowledge neither the RCMP nor any other agency or ministry has taken an official stance. I suspect this is because the only stance they can take, based on current law, is to confirm that it is NOT a prohibited device, which they do not want to go on record as doing. If anyone has information (not speculation) to the contrary, please chime in.

While I am sure that the RCMP and other interest groups would love to see this stock flatly prohibited, the sad news for them is the letter of the law is quite specific. It was written explicitly to prohibit certain trigger "enhancers" such as the Hellfire or the "gatling" crank that clips to the trigger guard.

This stock, while quite purposefully designed to "cause the firearm to discharge cartridges in rapid succession" does absolutely nothing to the trigger mechanism and does not fit the definition of the OIC. Of course that doesn't stop CBSA from halting their importation anyways based on their own biases and opinions.

This is the result of poorly written law - you get creative minds looking for ways around it. Take all of the prohibited guns in the OICs and look at what's available now. Plenty of similarly-capable firearms and non-restricted because the law was written for the day. Once lawmakers figure out how to future-proof we will be in trouble.

All I'm saying is it's a grey area.

1) It is not electrical
2) It is not mechanical
3) It does not operate the trigger

If you think of it, the Slide Fire is nothing more than a broken collapsible stock that can freely move back and forth.

The stock is a piece of plastic.

Guys, do you really think that I don't already know this?

You seem to be forgetting that we're talking about the same organization that classified the GSG-5 as an MP5 variant. If a ton of them are being brought into the country, the RCMP will, almost without a doubt, decide that it is indeed a prohibited device.

Although you might make a literal argument that this is so....I think the RCMP would cite the intent of parliament was to generally block devices that enable rapid fire of a semi-auto firearm.

I'm wondering if it would be legal to have an semi-auto rife stock cut to accept the full auto IKEA wooden spoon.
The wooden spoon would not be designed or adapted to operated the trigger, it would be straight out of IKEA.

The spoon on the right, finger in the hole. It would do the same job as the slide fire thing.

I'd love to see a Youtube video of how that would work!

The RCMP WILL view this as full auto.

Once they decree that it's full auto then EVERY M4 becomes prohibited as it's now "easily converted to fully automatic".

All it will take is for one of those stocks to be seized and handed over to the RCMP for review.

The feds would claim "spirit of the law" on that stick. I know this from the legal experts on GunNutz. If you tried to import a stick from the USA you will need millions of dollars for fancy lawyers, and then you will go to the Big House forever.
The spoon is way worse, since one end goes on your shoulder. Which legally makes it a barrel shroud. Barrel shrouds are PROHIBITED because I just made it up. If you even discuss sticks, the NDP will ban all guns tomorrow, so you aren't allowed to talk about it.

Hands-up, who wants this thread forwarded to the media? This is all it will take to create a media storm so big that it will push all semi-autos to prohibited status.
