Early, Early SP1 Value

There is one of my boss' friend (from Three Hills, Alberta) looking to sell a Colt SP1. The previous owner's just passed away. I don't know any details of this AR, by the way here is the picture.

Please let me know if anyone is interested, you may contact the owner directly before it put in auction. Cheers.

Colt SP1 sighting on Wolverines web site for $995. Don't know if it's still there but it's up on their site.

I bought my (second) SP1 for the worldly sum of $450 from a fellow who had lost interest in shooting. My son (he is 11) comes along with me to the range and I let him bang away with the Nork M4 clone, one day I ask him if he wants to try shooting something a little longer and with iron sights so he gives the SP1 a go. after about 20 rounds or so he looks over to me and says "hey I like this one more". Actually I have a soft spot for that old "retro" SP1 look Vs the Nork with a bunch of junk on its rails, and maybe so does my boy.

That's a no-brainer. SP1 is the real McCoy with the Colt trademark on the receiver. Plus it has the image of Vietnam War written all over it. Norc M4 is and will always be a knockoff no matter how much one try to convince himself otherwise.

Dang, I wish I had the spare cash for that at the moment.

Wow you guys get some good prices in Canada on them. Here they go for about $1200 now and that's down from the $1500 and above they were getting.
I'm a Viet era vet and they're as close to my service rifle as you'll find in semi-auto. I've wanted on but not at those prices either. I'll stick with the newer ARs that shoot better anyway and sell for much less here.

Shameless hwy robbery. :)

One would think, but the guy offered it to me at that price since he hadn't shot it in years and was just taking up space in his safe, which he wanted for some other firearms.

Who am I to turn down a friend in need?:D

FYI, it should be a simple matter to register it. Old guys turn up all the time with unregistered restricteds.

Apparently the owner passed away, so there's an Estate to settle as well - dude had some first class stuff though - and not one single piece registered, ever. If I'd known him I'd have bought him a beer.
