fuel80guy - They say that carbide dies need not be fed lubricated cases, but the lube makes it easier. All other sizing dies must be used with lube or the cases will get so stuck in them that lowering the ram will rip the rim off the case. Then you need to trudge down to the store and buy a stuck case remover - not expensive, but a real PITA.
Too much lube on the other hand will cause dents in the shoulder. (Not a real problem - they will blow out when fired.)
I use Imperial die wax. It comes in a tine 'shoe polish' tin. Simply tap your finger lightly on the wax and roll the case between thumb and finger. Quick, far less messy than lube pads.
Somebody on this forum - and I wish I could remember who - made a very good suggestion WRT lubing the inside of case necks. He took some small lead shot, put it into a small pillbox or similar and topped it with a bit of powdered graphite. Lid on, then shake. Take the lid off and simply push the neck of the case into the shot. Fast, easy, neat. Every so often, put the lid back on and shake a bit.
