coyote attack in oakville ontario

This has been around since 2009 but I just saw it last night. I never though a yote would pester a full grown man. Incidents are on the rise.

You have to look where he is. Remote area, camp location, my guess is the guys on site were feeding him and then stopped thats why he is willing to get so close to a full grown man, but is pissy with the guy, where the f**k is my food he is thinking. Once you start to feed them they become dependent

I had some foxes up in norman wells nwt that followed me around site, got so close as to walk through my legs and scare the s**t out of me, the guys were feeding them. The foxes would also steal gloves, hats, etc and piss on them or eat them. But they got use to the guys, and would follow them around site and sleep under their trucks like dogs waiting for scraps.

possibly, I was unaware we even had such a permit in Canada. the last thing i want is to be doing something illegal, but I'm not going into the woods defenseless after i had to shoo wolves away 4 times in 1 hour. I really don't see the permit necessary but if that's what it takes then why not apply right?. besides it's just a cooey bolt action repeater .22 i'm not hunting, i'm working. I only intend to use it if it is from point blank. keep in mind it is unloaded and encased so by the time i get to it, get it out of the case, get it loaded, The wolf is either right on top of me or long gone.

I was thinking of a handgun. You mentioned that you have your rifle close by. That may not be close enough with all of the noise around you. I think that wearing a holstered gun while working may be your best option.

858Hunter, are you talking wolves or coyotes? Where are you cutting? I see it says you are in SE Ontario.

about 45 min south of bancroft. I ran into a coyote just last week in that bush, but these were taller at the back then a german sheperd, black, white, greys, big noses, and they full on howled. i thought they were hybrids at first until i acctually saw them, then i was convinced that they were wolves. I'm not good with weights but i would have to guess that they were all around the 60-70lbs range.

as for the permit I do not have my RPAL anyways, but that would make me feel much better with a glock 17 at my hip.:D

I only take the cooey because i don't have the heart to leave any of my other guns out in the cold all day long with sawdust everywhere.

You wont get a carry permit in our neck of the woods... but if I was you I would arm myself.... even a 22-250 handi rifle just in case.... wolves are very smart creatures... they are like sharks, they exist to mate and eat..... If they know you are around they will stalk you... they may act casual around you... eventually they will snap and do what wild creatures do to sustain themselves....
