Has anyone used a SP01 tactical for competition? I can get one for $250 cheaper than a Shadow, but I'm wondering if I will regret not getting the Shadow later. Is the trigger with the FPB really that different? I intend to use it for IDPA now and IPSC in the future.

For IDPA you will have to get it down to 39oz to play. If you replace the grips with Dennis Marshal thin grips you should be there. For IDPA, if you prefer the CZ design take a look at the CZ85 Combat over the SP-01 or Shadow unless you want to go to the extra expense of reducing the SP-01 and Shadows weight.

The Shadow comes with a slightly different frame, weighs more, has a much better trigger, better sights and does not have a FPB.

With a trigger job, improved sights the SP-01 can end up having just as nice of a trigger.

question how is the tactical $250 cheaper is it used? Tactical has a decocker & I think hammer blocks, Shadow has fiber optic sights not sure about the trigger yet as I just ordered a Shadow today.

Yes, the tactical is used. I know about the weight issues, but I'd rather get the tactical or shadow over the Combat because of the frame. I'm just wondering if the Tactical trigger is a deal breaker because of the FPB.
